"according to a source familiar with the goings on behind the doors of the WHAC,there is absolutely no panic.Actually, quite the contrary."
What these kids don't realize is that once you commit a lot of the attention goes away and they don't like that.
So he pulls the big ordeal on Christmas Day because "it's important for him to be the first commit" then instead of helping build the class he is too busy trying to remain in the spotlight.
Say what you want but in comparison to Ferns, Jones sucks as the first commit. Ferns was scUM's first commit and be is busting his balls to help build the class. He was instrumental in getting Berger on campus and is doing it all without bringing attention to himself. What has Jones done besides read his own press clippings?
Kids shouldn't be allowed to commit until August 1st. It cuts a lot of the bullshit out. You have Alabama & LSU offering fucking 1st graders out there. It's to the point that it's beyond ridiculous and petty. I can't really ever get excited when a kid commits this early because I know for a fact it's never over. Programs will continue to hound your recruits until NSD. I'm fine with that aspect; we do the exact same thing. The twitter/facebook universe has created an unparalleled entitlement with kids these days. Not saying they're bad or terrible kids; this exposure seems to be overwhelming some of them. You have the NCAA allowing 24/7/365 contact which is beyond ridiculous.
Cam Burrows & Jalin Marshall are 2 recruits that set the highest standard on how to act. They committed and you NEVER heard a peep out of them period. They went on their way and about their business. If Jones wants to look around he should understand that Ohio State will not wait around for him. Either you're committed or you're not. It's your choice.
And I shall rejoice in victory for another 365 days over That School Up North.
Like it or not the new game in town is to secure a scholarship from somewhere you think will be a good place for you. Then you start looking around and seeing if something better comes along. At age 18 there are a multitude of factors which could sway your original decision. What the kids don't realize is that when they play these games it goes both ways. That coach you jerked around for 2 years, who told you that he needs you to be ready to start day 1, is now in your face and questioning why you're even there. Just ask Se'gone Pittman.
That or If i was a coach, I would just simply tell all the kids, hey take visits that fine, but as you say your not committed till you sign. So if another kid shows he wants to commit and stops all visits and shuts down for you, just don't allow the wavering kid to sign. Tell him sorry, but while you were looking around, so was I.
Hail Hail to MeatChicken the Cesspool of the World!
