Went to the game Saturday, and right infront of the St. John's entrance to cross over to the Horseshoe we were taking in the scenes, and Lachey and gang on their radio show.
Thad Matta came by walking in his shorts and OSU garb, and he was getting his exercise in. Matta has that brace on his right leg from right below his calf down thru his ankle, and he walks with a limp, does not hold the man back. He said hi, visited and was very pleasant, huge smile on his face as he was decked out in his OSU gear. He was all smiles when we congratulated him on his Final Four run.
We saw him a little later with the recruit Kameron Williams and his mom, again he was friendly and he was selling the ambiance of the event to that recruit.
Saw Matta on the sidelines as well, working Williams and his mom during script Ohio and other events, and he and Meyer spent time with both sets of recruits pre kick off at field level.
You watch Matta walk with that brace and that slight limp, and you know his history of issues around this, yet you see how positive he is with this and such an ambassador for OSU, makes you appreciate him even more. If he has any pain or slight issues with this right leg issue you would never know it, he is so upbeat and all OSU.
I knew about the persistent back problems.
What was the leg issue?
The guy puts out.
Thad doesn't get his just due for what he's done with our hoops program!
“Without winners, there wouldn't even be any civilization.”
Very nice write up......love for the Buckeyes!!!!!!
Only 2 words describe Thad....
My respect for that man just continues to grow. Thanks 83.
You see that sign that says 'Rib Tips'??
I'm pretty sure there is a basketball tent in the st john arena parking lot that is on the ohio stadium side and he walks through there every home game with players and recruits, so if you want to meet the man, that's where you should go! He's always got a smile on his face and stops at other peoples tailgates. Real class act!
You know, that could be it, right around where we met Matta. You could tell he walked with some pain, he never showed it, he was all up beat, all smiles and all Ohio State.
We had perfect seats at the 50 yard line in C deck, you could see Matta and Boals working Kameron Williams and his mom.
Urban Meyer came up and got a picture as well. Matta and Boals huddled with them during script Ohio, they all looked pumped. We had a pretty good view of all of that, plus the pre game stuff as well.
