i graduated from Allen High School in Allen, TX in 2003. my first real year of off-season football was spring of 2000 when i was finishing my freshman year, i had to be scout team for the varsity on an every day basis and our starting mike LB/Guard was a fella named Brandon Villareal (not sure if anyone remembers him, he went all the way up to Purdue on a football scholly and actually started a number of games at DTackle from 2002-2005 . good size fella (6'2" 290)). anyway even though i was a lineman (6'0" 245 as a freshman) i had to play scout team linebacker and on every running play for roughly 2 weeks i was dominated and put on my ass by Mr. Villareal. really good guy though
Calvin Booth, one of the few from my high school to go to a d1 school, let alone pro.
I've lined up against Johnny Simon, though Zordich was scarier at the time, but i want you guys to understand that BEANIE WELLS was the most intimidating player i have been on the field against. That includes guys like Storm Klein and Adam Bellamy.
In high school I am not really sure...I played against a ton of guys that went on to play D1...
In college it was Andre Wadsworth...Fastest player I've ever gone against as a DE. Plus he was a badass. Didn't amount to much of anything in the NFL, but he ended up being a 1st round pick..
Jefferson Kelly - Colerain
Kurt Murphy - De Sales
I attended a Columbus City League school back in the day. Ed Ratliff pitched for East, and generally looked to be about 8 feet tall on that Linmore Junior High School field. Those inside fast balls were intimidating, particularly after he threw one of his notorious curves, over which he had absolutely no control.
In basketball, probably Jack Tatum in pick-up games around campus. You learned pretty quickly that you never wanted to set a screen for the man he was guarding.
I lined up directly across from Orlando Pace when he was a senior at Sandusky. Worst night of my life.
My old roommate grew up in LA and earned a scholarship for UVA. He said the most ferocious lick he ever received was in high school from one Na'il Diggs.
He tried to get on his feet and jog to the sideline. He feel down twice on his way to other team's sideline where he had to be guided around the track to his own.
haha. wow. It was Red Grange for me.
DJ Williams at De Le Salle (later Miami and then Broncos) destroyed me on a draw play. I got in the backfield and got faked out that the QB only faked the draw. Rather than getting into a hitting position I was trying to get around DJ to get a sack.
He had the ball and knocked me flat on my ass. I was able to reach my hand up and trip him but I still looked like an idiot. We got destroyed.

In high school hoops my junior year played some AAU ball and we played in the Hoyle Tournament in Sharon PA, we played against Lavar Arrington and he was a man amongst boys when it comes to banging down low. We had David Young on our team who went on to Xavier and then juco and then drafted in the NBA. Those guys were freaky athletic. I played baseball at Dayton and played against a ton of guys in MLB. Youkilis, Swisher, Uggla, Chris Young, Chris Burke, Jeff Keppinger, Tim Stauffer, Joe Blanton, Joe Saunders, and many more.
Djk, iowa's all time leading reciever.
Jeff cumberline from brookhaven.
Trey Teague- tenn
Don Gullett....Pitched for the Reds and Yankees.
Biggest badass without a doubt was Reggie Garnett at Buchtel, became big ten frosh of the year at MSU. Unblockable.
Got tossed around by a lot of good players, Pace included when he was a Jr...but Garnett was unreal.
Romain Sato my senior year in basketball. We also had a state champion heavyweight wrestler that year, not sure what division we were in wrestling, but he flat out dominated everyone. He wrestled Tim Anderson in a national tournament and got pinned in under 2 minutes.
Jay Richardson, my sophomore year in high school, when he was a senior at Dublin Scioto. Fortunately for us it was a scrimmage and he didn't play too many snaps.
Tim Anderson. He was the state champ as a heavyweight wrestler who we called 'the lumberjack' I was an undersized guard and he was a defensive tackle when we were growing up. My strategy was a chop block every play, and just hope he tripped over me. If I hit him above the waist, I ended up on my back.
Still not catching the ever-contagious WHINE-FLU!!!
