Played against Tyrone Barnett from Orrville who played @ The OSU. His thighs were bigger than my waist. Very shifty and super fast. Larry Csonka from Stow, Syracuse and the Miami Dolphins. Biggest kid on the field and a hell of a ball player. But the best running back who could absolutely run right through you was a guy named Dave from Coventry High School who played @ Northwestern and then was a running back and punter with the Packers in the late 60's.
Mike Doss, Dustin Fox, T.J. Duckett and Nate Stead. Three were buckeyes and TJ was just another kind of specimen.
I remember lining up next to Doss in the blocks of the prelims in the 100 yd dash at a meet and wondering how he was in my grade and just noticing how advanced he was physically to where I was. But once the gun sounded and the race was run maybe it was the 50 less lbs I was packing but I had prevailed.
Lamar Odom at URI - intimidating in that he could do what he wanted when he wanted.
oh god...that had to be a horrible experience....oh well...if your gonna get flattend...let it be done by one of the best ever!
Jeff Hartings, who went on to Penn State & a good NFL career. Thankfully, he was neither as big or as polished at that time.
