We haven't seen next years squad yet
WTH are we going to do next year when Thomas leaves? Scary as hell
Ross has come off the bench at Duke and Purdue, big time offensive sparks.
He did in the first half with 5 points.
We got nothing out of the center duo of Ravenel/Williams. What 3 points combined and no blocked shots.
How about going with Ross, Thompson and Thomas sometimes on the front line, and Smith/Craft/Scott in the back court, and try and beat teams with that line up?
Ross and Thomas have the ability to stretch defenses, we get nothing out of the center, absolutely nothing.

Columbus 'Til I Die.
This team has bad parts. Most guys have good defense with bad offense. We have one guy who can be relied upon to score. We could go one and done fairly easily with one bad DeShaun Thomas game.
I know defense is important but Thad has to recruit more scores who can put the ball in bucket. We need guys who can play good d and can hit a open jumper.
Lack of a scoring big man is the biggest problem tho. We have no chance of winning this conference or going back to the Final 4 without one.
I've written about this a lot.
When Williams is in over Ravenel, you basically have a guy in there you don't cycle the ball to. Scott and Thompson are pretty dicey shooting on the perimeter.
Smith Jr has some game but really excelled when he was a role playing after thought behind everyone else. Having to create on his own has been difficult for him.
Craft has run hot and cold and isn't that assertive as he needs to be.
Sullinger created a nice flow in the offense for us that we don't have anymore. Also Diebler and Buford played the role well of what I call "the rabbit". Jekel Foster used to play it to in which you'd run like a madman around screens and really stretch out the defense and wear them down chasing you.
We don't run much sets with a rabbit anymore. In the half court set, it's tough going.
2x time repeat N.I.T. championships here we come
Chad ford latest mock draft (released on the 16th) doesn't have Thomas has a first round pick. Hopefully he stays because he leaves, we could be the NIT next year unless Amir, Ross, and Scott grows a ton.
We don't have a legitimate #2 reliable scorer. Maybe Ross , but Matta has him so afraid to make any mistakes in fear of getting benched that he plays like he's running on broken glass. Live with his growing pains & let him develop. He can't do any worse than Smith or Thompson.
Matta swinging & missing on A LOT of recruits the last 2 years is really coming back to bite us right now.
Agreed, especially at the big man position. I don't know if its his back or what but with two centers (Mullens and Koufos) starting in the NBA and Sullinger being a first round pick; you would think big mean would be desperate to get here.
I'm also over recruiting the Sam Thompson, JD Weatherspoon, and Eric Wallace types. Just like Andre Igoudola, when your not running and have to play in the half court, their useless.
