I'm looking at various avenues, and am finding many recruits (ILB/OLB) have been committed. I think LB is a constant and ongoing developmental postion...especially ILB/MLB. I believe we need to go after athletes that can project to specific numbers. If my memory serves me right, Cie Grant started his career at Ohio State playing CB, but won the NC at OLB. Many Kids often times don't look at the shorttime-distant future (5 yrs) with where they can end up playing at the next level (NFL, CFL, or a Developmental League).
If you look at the current roster, it's glaring how the previous staff lacked the vision it takes to be successful against
SEC-esque teams...whereas this staff is on par.
I like where the staff is going overall, but we're going to need more than a couple of prospects. I would recruit (focus on)
8-10 legitimate solid athletes to ensure we get 4-5 ILB/MLB per class to ensure we have a solid nucleus and good numbers.
We need a new LB coach...
We are coming for you Bama!
Being able to oversign would be awesome.
If we were in the sec it wouldn't be a problem.
You can't handle the truth
I think you can make the exact opposite argument: we need smarter, more fundamental (and better behaved) kids. Our linebacker recruiting has actually been the best of any position if you go by recruiting rankings. We have been getting lots of the 4 and 5 star "athletes" you seem to be talking about (Dorian Bell and Curtis Grant are the best examples), they just haven't panned out. Meanwhile lower ranked Ohio recruits have been starring at other schools and getting drafted by the NFL (Luke Kuechly, Greg Jones).
