ND and Michigan had monster hauls this year.
I'm sure every prospect witha midwestern bent will be supplied with depth charts of OSU/Michigan/ND.
I'm not in the "Hey, come here because it will be easier to play" business, but desperate times call for desperate measure.
Other than Jimmy Byrne any OL prospect with an offer from OSU that ends up at Michigan or ND next year should have his head examined.
We lose 4 starter next year and brough in only 2 this year
I don't think its as desperate as you make it out to be, We got Decker, Dodson, Effelen (spelling?) and Boren last year. Boren was the backup Center last year and Decker was the back up tackle.
We also add Lisle and Gardner to that this year. Not to mention that some people think Price or Munger may end up on the O line.
Already have a commitment from Jones and seem close on Trout already next year.
I would have liked one more tackle this year, but its not as dire as you make it out to be....
The reality is, thats the selling point. 4 starters are gone after this year. Thats a wide open OL. Lots of competition there. Elite prospects will have that opportunity at early playing time. There simply is no other way to say it. We don't have to make idle promises. We don't have to bite off more than we can chew. The 2014 OL will be completely different than the 2013 OL. Anyone who wants to play early, this is likely your best chance.
Not using that selling point would be stupid for our staff. Although I'm not concerned about that. I'm pretty sure its exactly what they are pitching. I think, as many do, that the issue has been negative recruiting against this offense. There is a perception that it won't translate to the NFL. Despite whether its valid or not, that seems to be the concern. It's the staff's job to overcome this.
One reason why I'm not concerned yet with the hit rate is because Warriner's big selling point will be the 2014 draft. He better get some hits. Then I'll be concerned if we aren't bringing in the prospects.
I'm all in favor of keeping dangerous weapons out of the hands of fools. Let's start with typewriters.

When you lose 4 starters off the OL in 1 year, you're going to be faced with inexperience the following year. It doesnt matter if its Freshmen replacing them or Seniors.
We lost 1 OL to graduation and are bringing in 2, 1 of which is a tackle.
Essentially, all of these threads and handwringing are over the fact that we all would have liked to bring in 1 additional tackle in this class. We can't go back and undo the 2010 or 2011 classes.
In my mind, if we bring in 4 OL next year, 3 of which are Tackles, we're doing as well as we can hope. Again, 2014 will be a challenge regardless.
