According to BP, with a JUCO football inside story, Ohio State has offered 2014 JUCO Chad Mavety from Nassau CC in New York, who graduates in December of this year, thus could be an early enrollee for January and spring ball which could be a big plus.
Two years to play 3, but an early enrollee could make it into the 2 deep pretty easily if they get the system down and perform.
Mavety is 6'6" and 320, and besides the OSU offers has offers from Miami, NC State, Va Tech, Syracuse and a few more, and it sounded like a few others might be coming.
Actually like if we could land at least one JUCO OT if this is true, they are two years into a system practicing and playing against other kids that were legit D1 candidates and are physically and mentally more ready to hit the field running due to that in most cases.
Trout should be in soon to match Marcelys Jones, but if OSU went 5 OL and grabbed one JUCO to enroll early, not a bad things, the Bama's, USC's, Georgia's, LSU's, Oregon's and those type dip into that pool for instant depth and help.

Agree 83, this could help bridge the gap at Tackle between Dodson, Decker, Lisle and the 2014 guys where we need 2-3 more tackles.
If we get this guy, he can probably come right in and provide instant depth. Assume Dodson/Decker as starters and maybe Lisle as a Rs Freshmen going in to the 2014 season. Mavety can be the 3rd tackle off the bench potentially giving Lisle some more seasoning.
Just playing out scenarios, but I like it.
True. You can tell Urban Meyer is in that "win now mindset" knowing that he is needing to replace four starters so why not go after a dude with experience? I like it
I like adding one JUCO OT at least fwiw.
Lets say we nab this Mavety kid, he graduates in December and enrolls early for winter conditioning and spring ball, that is big. Two years in JUCO, you are more prepared physically due to playing against these types, stronge from two years in a weight room more, and you should be right there for school work.
If OSU landed two more OL (lets say Jamarco Jones and one other out of our pool of offers) to go with Jones and Trout, and we got a JUCO OT to enroll early, the transition into the 14 OL just got a lot more solid.
What Warriner did with this OL and Fragel was amazing, his track record of OL's and run games at Kansas, Air Force, Notre Dame and other stops is solid, he will ge this fixed.
Do no forget Chase Farris either, he got rave reviews from Meyer down the stretch.
Yup, agree. Warriner worked magic with a line that we all thought had talent but Bollman was clearly not getting it out of them.
I don't want to turn this into a Bollman thread, so let's just not do it. This group last year was just physical at the point of attack, worked well together and stayed healthy which are three very important things as a Offensive Line group. I think as the year went on and the competition got better we saw some chinks in the armor from Hall and Linsley, but they will be fine after another year of work with Coach Mick and Coach Warriner.
Love the coaching staff we have here. Guys that know what it means to be a Buckeye, relentless recruiters and you saw improvement from every position group as we went. Don't give me the crap about Smith at WR, look at how good Philly was, Smith had to have helped. They need to get better, but they were a really young group.
Very nice, if he can get acclimated to this level of ball quickly he could add a nice option if Decker and Dodson aren't ready.
83 bringing it
This will bring depth. Good find bro.
11W's now confirming the offer for JUCO OT Mavety, and they have quite a bit of nice film on him.
Big kid, moves pretty well and some pretty nimble feet. Looks real athletic for his size, loves to finish blocks.
Like the offers as a December JUCO graduate and potential early enrollee, reel him in Warriner! Depth chart has to look good to him.
Did some google, and Mavety is a New Jersey HS kid, and Warriner has New Jersey and Coombs was just there, and Mavety got his offer, kind of makes sense.

"Three years to play 2." Some on other threads have had problems with this concept. No need to confuse them any further.
I like this JUCO thinking, especially with OL's. We get already seasoned linemen and two scholarship years thrown back into the mix. No waiting for freshmen and sophomores to catch up and contribute to the depth chart.
Heres the film 83 mentioned
Thanks for linking that on Mavety.
I like this offer a lot. Gonna need some experience on that O-line next year.
Multiple sites today, and running all those updates thru BP and 11W's, validate that Mavety does indeed have an OSU offer.
Graduates in December, and would be an early enrollee with 3 years to play 2.
With his size and two years in the JUCO system and early enrollee, he gets into the two deep almost automatically.
Ohio State offering a JUCO OT in early February is intriguing..I would guess OSU does not often offer JUCOs this early..Mavety must be a special talent

BK Bits: Plenty going on so let’s get started!~This morning OSU Offered every 5star in Tex,Fla,& Ala...I will have more throughout the day!
There are some really good JUCO prospects I'd like to see us taking chances on here and there. The B1G should utilize JUCO players more. It'd be great to add a JUCO, Trout, Jones, and wait on two big fish.
Cleveland Orchestra Baby!! World's greatest!! The Brown's wet dream is to be them. The Ohio State University-Where the Illibuck Lives!
Just reading a Miami 247 article on Mavety from 15 days ago, and why with an illness he was set back and went JUCO.
He was originally going D1 as a DL.
It states at 6'6" and 320, he runs a 4.8 40, and this article was done before his OSU offer, and it stated he was going to visit OSU this spring for practices and/or spring game various places.
Several sites ran a story on Mavety after his OSU offer, and it sounds like he is coming in for the spring game.
Offers from Miami, Va Tech, NC State, Syracuse and a few others besides OSU, and West Virginia just offered.
Mavety will graduate in December and enroll early, if OSU got 5 OL for the 2014 class and this kid was one, and he enrolled early with Trout, color me happy, that would still leave room for 2 more national elites and Trout and Mavety would enroll early for now as it stands.
Says Mavety is a ROT.
Good stuff! I agree with you that I like the experience he has gained at the Juco level, hoping we can bring him on board
