You realize, it's because of this thinking by the majority of our leaders that we're behind the SEC. Right?
It is conceivable that we could actually end up playing Meatchicken 3 times in a row with the new playoff format. If we came into the game 1 and 2. Then the winner of the B1G championship isn' the winner of The Game. One of the teams drops to 3 or 4. Then they are put into the playoff game.
More than likely the winner of The Game will end up being knocked out of the BIG Championship game as well as any playoff scenario. Very rarely do we see a team lose championship game and remain in the top 4 unless they're in the $EC.
jimo the game should stay put.....i dont want to play our rival wout any warm up games, that would be the worst senerio of all. let players Develop till the end of the year and we play them at the top of our game. shouldnt matter if we play them twice in a row or twice in the same season its the same i think. after the 96 game imagine how huge the bt championship game would have been oh my.....also think what might have happended in the first qtr when we were struggling to figure things out we could have been blown out before we knew what hit us ala m this weekend... keep it the way it is

I for one would like the game to stay where it is. However, the thought process isn't egregious, in fact, it is well thought out. I am not one in favor of making it the first game of the year. Too much at stake to have that game that early.
I would purpose this instead. Why not something like Texas/OU? Have the game in early October so all most mid way through the season, that would create the excitement for rivalry and if they played each other again enough time would have passed so that it would be no big deal.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder
Let the unliely back-to-back scenario happen once and then adjust. This is not a good enough reason to panic now and ruin tradition. The in season anticipation is still much greater than any off season anticipation to the game would ever be.
I think having too much at stake is a better reason to have it early. Imagine how pumped the preseason camp would be having that long to prep for scUM knowing the ramifications of losing.
