1.If Ohio State was bowl eligible, and won out, with a BIG Ten championship in hand, could they have sneaked into the National Championship game ? I’m certainly no math expert with formulas but just for food for thought, what would do you think if that scenario had played out ?
2. if ND gets smoked in tile game, do you think OSU could be Pre-Season #1 next year?
Yes, if we won out, we would go to the NC.
idc about where we start next season.
I'm not so sure. OSU's schedule was horrible and the perception of the sec would be tough to overcome.
ok, i see,, how about next years poll?
A lot of the BCS calculation is the AP and coaches poll. The AP votes are punishing OSU for not being bowl eligible. Trust me, they would be #2 in the nation in the AP poll if they were bowl eligible, but AP voters are being stubborn. Also, the coaches can't even vote OSU at all, so that is all speculative on where they "would" vote OSU. OSU would easily be #2 in the BCS right now.
The AP poll has nothing to do with the BCS rankings. We'd be in the title game.

Next year will be interesting. I'm not going to pretend to know who is coming back for other teams.
On this year. The buckeyes would have a tough time. I believe they have beaten one ranked team all year. That is the kind of thing that left boise out when they went undefeated. We will never know but I don't think that the sec was going to be left out this year.
Not sure how you leave them out regardless of SOS. Plus I think it'd be a hell of a game between the two teams.
Yes- if we won out we would go to the MNC...especially if we roll Nebraska all 4 quarters instead of just 2.
Yes- we win our 8th National Title.
OSU offense v ND defense: PUSH- Teo makes up for any shortfalls of ND's d-line. Braxton would have to play a little bit better than he has of late.
OSU defense v ND offense: Adv. OSU- As we've seen, they're hitting their stride. And with a healthy Simon they'd be too much for ND to handle, especially since neither 1 of their QBs are very consistent
Intangibles(coaching, SP teams, X-factor): Adv. OSU- coaching...HA...next. SP teams, Urban straightens 'em out for the big game. X-factor...Miller v Teo will be a great matchup, so I think this is a push.
ND keeps it close through mid 3rd quarter...then OSUs conditioning, tenacity, and overall resilience take the game over. OSU over ND 27-17.
I don't know about pre-season #1. Definitely top 3.

With the boost in sos because of the scum game and the bttg I fully believe that an undefeAted osu team would have faced nd.
OSU would NOT get in over the winner of Alabama - Ga.
The computer rankings would cost us. A win against Nebraska would gain us almost nothing in the computer polls, our earlier win against a 2 loss Nebraska team would now be devalued to a win against a 3 loss team, although we would pick up an additional win against that 3 loss team - net effect very little.
The computers will love a win against Alabama or Georgia.
I also think we would be behind in the human polls. No voter would place the winner of Ga - Alabama lover than #3, but some would place us as low as 5 or 6. But even if we managed a slight lead in the human polls which account for 2/3rds of the BCS it would not make up for the big lead the SEC champ would have in the computer polls.
Sorry but again I'm not buying it.
The Sagarin ratings list Alabama as ranking 39th in schedule strength, Georgia 42nd and Ohio State 51st. The Colley rankings have the Crimson Tide rated 47th, the Bulldogs 51st and the Buckeyes 52nd in schedule strength.
Way too close to say our schedule is horrible. If you go with SOS at the beginning of the year it looked bad but now that things have played out we are right in there with the SEC boys.
"Sorry about that, I meant to high five your face!"
