Going to Chicago to see the GF this weekend. Any suggestions on things to do, places to see or good restaurants to eat at? TIA
I recommend riding the red line and watching crazy people yell at invisible people.
Goose Island Micro Brewery and restaurant. Get in a cab and say Goose Island. Great food and beer.
I say it everytime but: The Weiner Circle and order a chocolate milkshake after 2am
Joe's Steak and Seafood downtown by the Marriott
Pizza either Gino's East or Lou Malnatis either one awesome
Bar scene: Rush and Division area (I like Hunt Club and Irish pub across street south of that intersection) or Wrigleyville (probably dead in winter)
Follow me on Twitter @SteveHelwagen
Also Lawry's Prime Rib downtown too (one meat coma please)
Thanks guys, will check those out! What about something cool to do after dinner?
If you like blues music, go to Blues on Halstead, Kingston Mines or Buddy Guys...
Bandera"s Restaurant on 500 blk of Michigan near Ohio Street. Weber Grill Restaurant on Ohio Street near Michigan Ave. (see a trend here?). Gino's East Pizza on Superior Street. You won't have any problem finding a place to drink but it probably depends were you want to hang out. Have fun, Chicago can be an incredibly fun experience.
Kingston Mines is a must! Best live blues place around. You won't be disappointed.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder
Check out Lincoln Park Zoo after dark. They have the lights display out right now, and the entire park is completely lit up and its free. Rose Angelis has always been my favorite restaurant (also in LP). The Kris Kringle German market (downtown by State street) is pretty cool if you are looking for Holiday themed stuff to do.

If money is not an issue Mastros steakhouse is a must. I live here in Chicago and its the best restaurant in town. Very expensive but you would impress your girl a ton. Need reservation so I would call immediately. Good Italian downtown is rosebud or Carmine's. most popular club in town right now is Paris Club. Bull Bear is a great bar too.
Time and change will surely (truly) show
