Girlfriend has been busting her ass going back to school, and I want to take her out some place nice. Looking for Italian or fish/steak. She prefers salmon if anybody knows of a particularly good place for that. I'm more of a steak guy so it would be nice if the had a good one of those too. Some friends have suggested Martini or Ocean Club as well as Smith & Wollensky....thoughts on those? I like The Top Steak House but would like to try something different. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I just went to Smith and Wollensky the other day, and to be honest with you, for the price I was not impressed.
Ocean Club is a good choice.
I always like eating in the bar area at the Fish Market... Good ambiance.
For Italian Moretti's in Arlington is my go to place
Chophouse 47 in Greenville, S.C. Great salmon. (Smile)
Italian Buca Di Pepo A great steak take a little drive to Cincy to Jeff Ruby's Precint the seafood and the steak is top notch this was voted one of the 10 best in the U.S. and I know why I was fortunate to eat at 3 of the top 10 last year .....On the drool scale 4 drools being the best. The Precint Cincy Carne Vino Las Vegas Emerills Delmonico New Orleans
Killing SCUM just to watch it die!!!!....."De Oppresso Libre"
Bonefish grill at Polaris. All fish are grilled on a plank. Salmon is what my wife prefers and I recommend the sea bass
Steak - Eddie Merlot's
Fish - Columbus Fish Market
Italian - Scali Ristorante
I assume the OP was looking for a place in Columbus, but good suggestion to drive to Cincy for The Precinct. I'd rate their steaks above Morton's, Ruth's Chris, and definitely better than Eddie Merlot's. Good ambiance too - if you haven't been there lately, they added a new bar about a year ago, which is really nice. If driving from Columbus, you can shorten the drive by going to Carlo & Johnny (another Ruby steakhouse) in Montgomery (just off I-71, north of Cincinnati) instead.
Thanks for all the suggestions guys!
Salmon is so frickin easy to make and you should stay home. She'd like that A LOT more. Make the place all nice and romantic with dim lights and candles with some wine etc. A nice simple salad and may be some lightly cooked or sauteed asparagus and garlic mashed potatoes to go with the salmon fillets and you'd be THE MAN.
CostCo has some great salmon fillets and steaks if you want steak. There are many good places to find good wine. I like Anderson's on 161 cause it's close. It's easier than you think to pull this off. A LOT cheaper and the end result much better. Chances are you end up on the couch before desert is served bro!
Screw going to any of those places mentioned. Spending that kind of money is pointless and not worth it. You doing all the work etc will be 10x worth it and get you 10x the bonus points with your woman! TRUST ME!

Agreed, Bonefish is amazing and fantastic service and somewhat reasonable....great fish selection there and their specials are extremely good.
Nah dude. She would hate that. We already do that at least once a week so it wouldn't be anything special. I told her we are going out so I would get a slap in the face if we just did the same ole thing. Haha and screw the couch, I want to add another public place to our "list." We both love good food so for us it is definitely worth it to go some place new. Appreciate the suggestion just NOT AT ALL what I'm looking for.
J.Gilberts, fantastic steak and seafood. You will not be disappointed.
You proly want to stay in the c-bus area but if there is a possibility of venturing out there is a place in West Chester (between Dayton and Cincy) called Jags Steak and Seafood.....food is unreal and they have a lounge you can dine in with a live piano player. If you stay till 10 they have live music and excellent people watching haha. The place is top notch!
I was just getting ready to post these two.

I second this. My first job was at Moretti's as a dishwasher...haha....I go there every chance I get when I visit C-Bus.
Eddie George, Simply the best
Eddie Merlot's is amazing.
That's cool that you guys do that. So yeah you're making the RIGHT move. Go downtown somewhere and get it on down by the bridge by COSI!
