When I saw this, I just couldn't believe it. They are actually remaking the movie Red Dawn. I think the premise is the Chinese invading the US! Really? The original was badass, but this looks so lame!
When I saw the original in, I think 1984, there was a real fear of the Soviets. I went to bed every night thinking this could be the night the Soviets launched. It terrified me. I just assumed when i was a child that I would end up fighting in a war against the Warsaw Pact countries in Europe. That was the propoganda of the time. It was not far fetched at the time Nowadays do we actually fear being invaded by a foreign nation? I just don't think you can recapture that feeling.
Either way, I am still shocked they made this movie.
Update: Apparantly the foreign invaders are North Koreans. Ok, I get it. That makes sense.
Directed by Dan Bradley. With Chris Hemsworth, Isabel Lucas, Josh Hutcherson, Adrianne Palicki. A group of teenagers look to save their town from an invasion of North Korean soldiers.

Hollywood is dead.
Total Recall, Red Dawn........Are they gonna remake Rocky or something next?
It used to be that movies were superior to tv. This has obviously changed DRAMATICALLY
The movie was made a few years back and there were issues with the release and the Communists that control most of our economy had a fit because the initial invaders were the Chinese, so it had to be reshot and edited.
I'm still gonna watch, the only instance when I will ever root for Wolverines!

it goes without saying... but I guess I'm saying it anyway... the original was a perfect 10... what was it? 5-6 oscars that it won? ..... crap, I can't remember how many.... what's to be gained from a remake?... can't possibly be better than the original...
.... would be like trying to remake pretty in pink.... improvement is a pipe dream...
unless c. thomas howell is being brought back... then all bets are off...
Fat, drunk, and stupid is no way to go through life, son.

Let me get this straight, the original studio had the bad guys being the Chinese, but there was political pressure to make it someone else? Wow! The only way this move had a chacne would have been to set it in the past or make the invaders aliens. Patrick Swayze must be rolling in his grave.
I want C Thomas Howell sawing off a shotgun talking about how all his hate keeps him warm! Get that in there and I will rent out the theater!
only 'cause he's pissed he can't still be in the remake!
save me a seat!!! ....
Boys! Avenge me! Aveeeennnnnngge me!
Despite their fathers advice, they neither really avenge him nor stop crying. AVEEEEENGE ME!!!!!!
Great movie originally however I still don't buy that those would be the only ones fighting without military help.
I did love the original though.
Why am I getting downvotes for this? Some people... geez!
Yep, hit too close to reality. China currently has one of the largest military bases in the world on the Mexican coast.....
It's all propaganda - look at Act of Valor - the Muslims team up with the Mexicans to sneak past an unsecured border - are you kidding me?!?!?!?!?!
Great action - lame propaganda.
You can't handle the truth
WHY IS THOR IN THIS CLASSIC!!!!
The movie was filmed in Detroit. My neigbhor is one of the invading soldiers.
Emperor Yamamato was asked about invading America; his response: "there would be a gun behind every blade of grass". That sentiment is more true today than then. Any foreign military with boots on American soil would go from fighting a million man army to a 300 million person army. Bloods, Crips & rednecks would unite against a common threat. I believe this whole heartedly. I know I send my son with my parents & go to the fight.
I saw the preview in the theatre and it's the north Koreans that invade somehow....
Do you remember Charlie Sheen in the original? I heard he's in the remake, too.
Spoiler alert: He plays Gary Moeller, the high school football coach that gets drunk and pisses in people's radiators yelling, "WOLVERINES"!
