Finally saw "Waiting for Superman" and thought it was FANTASTIC.
For you Wrestling fans, you should watch "Takedowns and Falls". Its the only thing out there that comes close to describing the lifestyle and mentality of a high school wrestler.
Also finally watched "Vanishing of the Bees". Because of that documentary I try to buy from local organic growers all the time now. Especially those who support the local bee keepers. Buying organic is a big thing for me now. I'm not obsessive. But it is important to me. And better for your overall health.
I'm all in favor of keeping dangerous weapons out of the hands of fools. Let's start with typewriters.
- Frank Lloyd Wright (1868-1959)
Benny, do like to learn about history? Another excellent medieval doc by the History Channel is the one they did on the Black Death.
While we all know what the Black Death was, the History Channel documentary really presents it as a wonderful mind stimulating documentary. Quite a story of the greatest epidemic known to man, and alot of information most people probably have no clue about.
(I hope you pick one of mine; The Dark Ages one or this one, though the Dark Ages I feel is better!)
Forks over Knives
I'm still a carnivore but this was fascinating.
Epicly Later'd-about the bad ass skateboarder John Cardiel is excellent as well
I'm shocked that I haven't seen "The Rivalary." I watch it every single morning before the Michigan game.
Also, another poster stated "Tyson." Man, that was riveting.
I'll have to check out "Takedowns and Falls." That sounds like a good one, Play.
My mistake...did not see the portion about no HBO...my bad.

"Leaders & Legends? Really? How about just name the divisions, Ohio State & everyone else." -Colin Cowherd
Takedowns and Falls was on Netflix streaming recently. Should still be there. Thats how I watch all my good movies now. If you have an account you should check it out. I loved it. But I was a wrestler when I was younger so it really hit home.
I was a wrestler as well and I just saw that it is still on Netflix. I know what I'll be watching tonight.
I am always looking for good movies/documentaries that pertain to wrestling. Most have no idea what life is like as a wrestler. I've done almost every sport there is and there is no sport that requires more from you (both physically and mentally) than wrestling.
I'll definitely checkout Takedowns and Falls.
Has anyone seen A Place Called Chiampas?
I want to see Last Train Home but someone told me it's not as good as people say.
I recently saw Wasteland and it was good but a bit long and slow.
Lot of people liked In The War Room. Same filmmakers did Startup.com and maybe it's because it's close to my heart, but yeah that movie I thought was just really well paced and interesting. Here is a clip I randomly have on my photobucket account. I'm raising VC dollars right now. Total pain in the ass.

"Capturing the Friedman's" is absolutely mesmerizing.
on my list, but don't have it as a streaming option. Will have to recheck to see. Everyone says that's a no brainer.
Herzog's narration is strange in Grizzly Man to the point that it is funny.
I'd have to agree with Hoop Dreams. It's one of my favorite sports documentaries.
PBS had a cool 10 part documentary following the crew's six-month deployment on the USS Nimitz called Carrier.
IOUSA is an interesting look at our national debt and discusses the history and actual causes.
Frontline's investigative series is also pretty interesting and available on Netflix and Hulu. They've got everything from stories of the wars in Afghanistan in Iraq, the Deewater Horizon Spill, the financial collapse, the Madoff Fraud, the Taliban, etc.
BTW--Thanks for all the suggestions. I'll have to check some of these out on a rainy or in todays case, a snowy day.

Ohio State.......our nuts will kill you
Know why "hilarious" is such a funny word? Because it's hilarious.

My your liqueur be cold, your women be hot, and all your problems slide off like snot.
The Confessions (FRONTLINE)..probably my favorite doc of all time. About the Norfolk Four....4 sailors in the Navy that were convicted of a crime they did not commit. Shows how completely effed up our legal system is. You think you are safe? You probably won't after seeing this. If you see no other doc, YOU MUST SEE THIS ONE.
Slavery By Another Name....great new doc about how conditions got worse for African Americans after slavery ended. Very good.
The Iceman: Confessions of a Mafia Hit man: this guy is probably the coldest, baddest killer of our lifetime. He killed for the mob families in NJ/NY. Chilling doc. This dude is for REAL. Not putting on a show. A must see.
Cocaine Cowboys....Cartels and how Miami blew up in the early 80s.
The Future of Water...documentry in a series. Mostly about the problems this planet is facing with fresh water. Not enough people know and should watch these docs.
The Power of Myth...if you have not seen this you must. It will change how you view life. Joseph Cambell is brilliant.
The Art of War....analysis of Sun Tzu's military treatise and how they were applied or not applied in historical conflicts and the outcomes.
Finally, there was a doc on the history channell about Edgar Cayce. The most amazing psychic I've ever heard of. He was just a Virginia farmer with like a 9th grade education but when under a trance he could diagnose illnesses. Pretty cool.
Sarah sorry about the Herpes.
I loved cocaine cowboys. It killed me when they said she was the baddest bitch to ever take a breath of life.
