This. I agree that UD fans would pack the Nutter. So why would UD want money from their fans going to WSU? And why not play the game at a MUCH nicer venue. Nutter is not a great place for college bkball.
Follow the money people. And ESPN would pick up WSU vs UD???? Ha ha - in what universe?

In the universe in someone's head called make believe land. They don't even pick up UD at X games. Now they're going to pick up UD at WSU? Funny.
Not so funny because of the hype and excitement it would generate in a town that is a true bball city and just to be snarky
they dont pick up UD at X because UD cannot win at X so the excitement is not generated. UD has enough money to do it
and not hurt their bottom line and just split everything down the middle
I note that there has been no comments to my observation as to the general lack of relevance of UD over the most recent past.
Maybe the bball gods have put the program in purgatory due to the unceremonious BS treatment of Don Donoher at the end
With the league changes coming UD needs to look at things thru a different prism and this may be one way
If UD does make it into the new big east, which I've heard is very likely, that makes it even less likely that they would want to schedule a home and home with WSU. They could get big names to do home and home with.
what is your source because i am hearing that they may be on the outside looking in, and do not get me wrong, they belong as much as
anyone else, pretty much based on their history, which is fine, but UD definitely needs a shot in the arm and the excitement would be huge
Since 2000, UD has made the NCAA tourney 4 times and the NIT 6 times (including an NIT Championship). How does that compare to WSU? Next.
I know a lot of people who know a lot of inside sources. They know many people in the UD athletic department.
Then check the current UD schedule for all of their trips to post season tourney's. UDs luster is off some and UD fans just do not see it
that way--------when UC and X started playing was that similar, I would say it was similar and now look at both, X was totally irrelevant for
a long time and UC saw the light and now, minus some small moments of utter stupidity, that rivalry has put Cincy bball on the map and is
a great ad for cincy bball and with time I think dayton hoops could also see a huge positive impact and I am sure that eventually it would
be close to a financial wash
I am not going to say UD runs scared of WSU because I am not sure that is true but the overblown reaction of the UD fan base takes the
cake, why not put WSU in its place on the court, hell it would be an easy win
WSU has made the NCAA tournament only TWICE in program history. I couldn't find anything on the NIT cuz I really wasn't looking that hard, but that says it all.

You didn't really just try to compare UC/XU to UD/WSU did you?
UD's luster is off when you compare it to the 60's, but it's in way better shape than it was in the late 80's and 90's.
Current UD schedule? So they have one off year because they are very young and all the sudden they suck? That's so ignorant. And the fact that you're comparing XU/UC and UD/WSU is a joke.
Maybe if UD had the balls to play us then we would truly find out. But those bitches won't come to the Nut House!

One off year, come on, and by the way I have not criticized UD in this discussion for no other reason than they should play WSU, I have no
rooting interest other than a hoops fan living in Dayton and both schools should play one another
Yes the luster is off currently and not just this year
I am comparing the fact that that game had to start somewhere and the X program was not where it is now when that game started, so do
not dismiss that comparison so easily
Maybe if OSU had the balls to give us a home and home. No BCS school wants to play is at the arena cuz they're scared of getting upset.
Yeah, one off year. This is our worst record in 10+ years.
If there was a 2nd school in Dayton that was even close to UC or XU 15 years ago I would be all for it too. WSU is not -nor will ever -be that team. As a fan it would be cool if Dayton had something similar to Cincy has but you can't force a square peg through a round hole.
And there is the uneducated fan-base comment I've been waiting for. Repeat after me - follow the money.
Yeah, no shit. I don't even know why I'm trying to argue the point anymore. No one seems to understand it.
I perfectly understand the rationale UD has by not playing WSU. It's because renewing the rivalry with WSU does nothing for them. It doesn't mean anything to UD if they win the game. And on the other end WSU has a ton to gain from beating UD and it would be the "end of the world" for UD if the other "inferior" team in town were to beat them. It's a combination of UD having nothing to benefit from the game but there is absolutely some fear within UD and their fan base no longer being superior to WSU if they lose. It will never happen because UD won't play at the Nutter. 2 years ago UD was looking for a home and home and WSU took them up on it. UD turned around and would only accept games with WSU if they were all played at UD arena.
IT'S ALL ABOUT MONEY. UD being scared to lose to WSU has absolutely nothing with it. It's the fact that, like you said, UD has nothing to gain and MONEY!
Let's do this tonight!
