Don't just smoke meats though. I smoke tomatoes, potatoes and all kinds of peppers, even garlic cloves. My smoked stuffed jalapeños will set you free. Anyone wants the recipe, let me know.
Also smoke some sausage anytime you smoke meats. We always have some smoked sausage for breakfast.

Thanks. Will add to my library. Another great tip is to talk to the main chef or smoker at great BBQ eateries. They love to share cooking tips and you can pick up some wonderful ideas.

Looking to get a smoker. Being new to the scene should I start with an electric one like the OP has or just get the BIg Green Egg (was looking at the large size)? Both are about the same price. TIA

Big Green Egg hands down! Best home investment I have made this past year.
How tough is it to control the temps? Once you get it to the temperature you want, how often do you have to add/reduce the heat? That is really my only concern and was thinking it would be easier to have an electric one.
Is the large going to be a good size? I am really just looking to smoke enough for 4-8 people max. at one time. More in to the briskets and shoulders than chicken and ribs, although I'm sure I will try those some too.

The Big Green Egg was MUCH easier to control the temperature than my electric one. MUCH easier! I can get it to between 220 and 225 and leave it for hours with no fuss whatsoever.
Large is the perfect size. You can do a ton of stuff on it. Get on line and research Big Green Egg if you haven't so far. It is awesome!
Buy a green egg best grill / smoker out there. Try some Willinghams rub U can order it online.
