What are our chances with Jahlil Okafor and Tyus Jones. I read that they are a package deal.

IMO we are in good shape for Okafor because he KNOWS he would step in and play day 1. Tyus Jones....he may realize a couple of guys named Craft and Scott are pretty good. If this truly is a package deal then we have a more difficult time, unless Jones is really special ( and starts ) or is willing to share PT with Craft and Scott.
crafty is a junior this year senior next so no worries there but I can't see Thad forcing shannon to the 6th man his senior year after all that kid has done this year and will no doubt do next year. I know Thad did something similiar with Butler, Conley, and Odom (Butler could shoot the 3 so well he just moved to the 2 spot I don't know if shannon would be capable of that).
Hail Hail to MeatChicken the Cesspool of the World!
Craft will be gone by the time Jones gets here, and plus Jones as of now is most likely a better shooter than Scott...
Not to be a downer but I live here in Minnesota in a suburb of Minneapolis. I coach football and work on speed and agility camp here in summers for area athletes - mostly football but some basketball. Coming into last year things were really quiet on Jones, he kept everything low-key but the last 6 months I have heard a ton of chatter about Tyus Jones from AAU coaches around the area, one of my closest friends is a big player in the MN basketball community. I can honestly say I have never heard one mention of Jones to OSU, I have heard that he is by far the closest with Tom Izzo and his staff and Duke is also a big possibility. Those are the only two I have heard other than Kentucky here and there. I can't speak for Okafor but I would put Jones to OSU at about 5% or less. There is a better shot he ends up home with the Gophers and that is highly unlikely. I would be shocked if it is anywhere other than Michigan State or Duke for Jones with maybe a 10% shot of Kentucky.
At the end of the day these two will go where the best for them as INDIVIDUALS is. If that happens to be the same place be it Durham, Columbus, or East Lansing then they will go together. To think that one of the pair will sacrifice what they are looking for in a program just so they can play together with their best bud is pure and utter nonsense. No elite prospect and their support group thinks that way. Ever. I'd lay good coin that they end up at separate schools.

Craft will be gone before Jones ever steps foot on campus, and if Scott doesn't improve his shot some more, I am sure they will fine a spot for a more talented player in Jones.
No one seems to remember Sam Thompson was Okafor's teamate in high school. OSU has a leg up with him. Craft will be gone and Shanon Scott - in my opinion will be able to play either position when he's a senior so they can rotate positions with Jones. He's got a good release just needs confidence similar to Diebler. Its still early so Matta has time to work on Jones, their early signing period isn't till October if I remember. This gives Matta and Co. this spring and summer to go to work!
Everything Ive read backs this up. OSU is never the 1st team mentioned for either player. There seems to be at least some chance with Okafor with OSU seemingly running 3rd right now. Almost no chance with Jones unless there is some huge change.
Although I will agree on the Jones portion of this, I will absolutely disagree on the Okafor part. OSU has done very well in his recruitment and trails no one. Not saying they lead but I think they are on equal footing.
Copied this from my post on a previois thread...
I have heard multiple places as well that Duke is tops for Jones and Okafor.
Okafor likes Izzo a lot and what he has done with Payne and Nix in regards to their development and playing them together. Okafor gets along with Cliff Alexander, PF-Chicago, who is highly considering MSU and thinks they could be a similar tandem. Jones on the other hand is less enamored with MSU. From independent sources Duke seems always to be mentioned #1. OSU talk has been minimal
Just what I have read, my 2 cents.
Jones is big on MSU - Izzo has been to Minnesota to see him more than any other coach including Tubby Smith who has sadly only been seen Tyus play live once. Tyus loves the MSU staff as well from what I am told. I would say it's MSU and Duke battle with Kentucky trying to weasel there way in for Jones. I am by no means a basketball recruiting junkie, I am a football guy, but I work closely with some guys in know on the MN basketball front. Pretty reliable in-state sources, not online recruiting sources. Again OSU is never even mentioned by Tyus - little to no chance he is a Buck unless there is a drastic change. Akot of people in MN are pissed about how hard MSU's staff is outworking Tubby and his staff of clowns right now. There two top 20 kids in MN in 2014 and three in the top 50 and I don't think the Gophers get any.
That is a value added post. Thanks.
Any word on how Jones likes Izzo/MSU vs Ratface/Duke? Jabari Parker, top 2 '13 recruit was worked so hard by Izzo, yet committed to Duke. Said hardest thing was saying no to Izzo. Yet he did it. The allure of blueblood programs is huge. See Indiana's return for example. You think Matta and.Izzo recruit well at their current jobs, put them at IU, UCLA, UNC and look out.

I posted basically the same info as JDGopher in the house, but I got roasted for it.
Jones isn't coming here. It's that simple.
If Okafor was making this call on his own, OSU would have a decent shot. But Jones is the captain of that duo as long as they insist on going to school together, and OSU is not a player for him.
If I had to bet, it would be MSU. Holding out hope for Duke so we don't have to defend these two.

If Scott improves as much as he did this year he will not be around as a senior. JMHO.
