I'm in the corner of "personal" responsibility and "choice". I'm not for past players trying to litigate their choices to play ball by suing the NFL. Sure, things are superior today, technology, salaries, etc...but everyone made their own choice to play ball....a game....yes, a very violent game. In many respects, Football today is the replacement of the Coliseum and Gladiator Fights of Ancient Rome....yes, without the extreme bloodsport, and usual death that resulted....but, still a forum of men doing battle on the field, and being heralded as demi-gods by 1000's of fans for excellence.
Aside, we all want safer and better technology....but, you are never going to remove the physics of the game....two elite athletes colliding with their heads inside helmets...the head suddenly decelerates and the brain inside the skull keeps traveling until it smashes inside the skull....players would have to wear beach-ball size (likely bigger) head protection "helmets" made of of cushioning material (memory foam)...literally "Feet" of energy absorbing material to prevent the modern day concussion. Sounds like a GREAT Experiment for "Myth Busters"....Except...it's no Myth.
