and Billick is watching what may have been. I know, I know. Joe Flacco is one of the all time greats. lol
I'm sure that this will be unpopular, but Russell Wilson is much better than TS. Clearly Troy was a great, great college player, but NFL scouts didn't think much of him as evidenced by where he was drafted. Baltimore didn't think much of him, they drafted a QB right after him and SF didn't, they let him go after a few decent starts by him. I love TS and he is easily one of my favorite buckeyes ever, but Russell is on a completely different level as an NFL QB if we are being objective.
Wilson is so much better. Its not close
You cannot believe what you just wrote. Wilson starts in the NFL and won his first playoff game. I don't remember Troy Smith doing that. People need to realize drugs are bad for you.
So because both Wilson and TS are black QBs who are shorter they are clones?
No comparison..... Wilson is far superior, and is very impressive as a decision maker at this level. They have similar skill sets, but the NFL game is much faster.... obviously TS did not develop like Wilson....
LOVE Troy Smith though!!!!! scUM killer!!!!!!!!
In the NFL the story is accuracy. TS didn't make it for the same reason that Brady Quinn never will. They can't work the smaller windows.
I love Troy Smith to death and he won a heisman, but... R Wilson may as well be a 30 yr old vet in a 23 yr old body. He makes it look so easy and has the intangibles of someone that is clearly not a rookie. Bright future ahead of him
I agree 100% with you, but it is funny how many big armed quarterbacks get and never work out because they can't hit the broad side of a barn.
Smith put up numbers here because he was throwing to two 1st-round NFL draft picks and had two guys in the backfield who both left early. When he was in the NFL playing foes with equal talent they destroyed him, and his bad behavior resurfaced because he couldn't deal with it. Fairly predictable scenario based on his history dating to being expelled at St. Edward, which is why he was the last pick of the fifth round in the first place.
Wilson is a big-time player who raises the level of play of everyone around him and he's a class act, too.

Something happened to Troy's confidence after he won't thehheisman and he never really recovered. That being said Wilson is better than Troy.
Troy Smith wasnt the athlete that Russell Wilson is. This kid had an NFL ready body when he got to Wisconsin. I frankly thought that Troy was a bit too thick to run by the time he was a senior and he didnt have the arm that Wilson has. Wilson isnt much taller, but 6 ft, like Troy was is a bit small. Wilson being 6' 1 or whatever is just enough.
All that said, I do not think that Troy ever really got a shot. His career was over once they drafted Flacco.
Come on dude. If Troy Smith was really that good he would have gotten a shot to prove it in the NFL. Teams don't just turn their noses up at Franchise QB's. Just because he was better than Wilson in College means nothing.
