I know most of you puked when read the title, just as I have every time you hear it spewed by the mouths of those on Espin. Now that UFM is develpoing his game and his team and we look ahead to years of dominance in the BIG....what can you expect to hear then say? UFM has brought his SEC team to Columbus. Buckeye Nation will hate it and curse Espin, and Espin will say that the only reason we are winning is because of how UFM brought SEC SPEED north to OHIO...This is going to be hard to stomach....what are your thoughts?
It's not as important where you came from, or where you've been, as it is where you are going, or where you end up!
You know, you have a point. I hate hearing anything like that. It sounds like the old saying, "if you cant beat em, join em." I have felt that osu's improvement won't validate our program, but rather look like we are just importing an sec team. Oh well, lets win three titles in four years, then we can sit back and enjoy. :)
I don't care as long as we win National Titles.
Buckeyes need Bama speed, not Kentucky or Arkansas speed.
Personally, I don't really care what ESPN or others say about the players we have. Take a look at Oregon, they're not a state known for football speed. What do they do, they import speed from Texas and California. I never hear anyone complaining about it. Never mind the haters, ignore them.
To get faster our players should tape cheetahs to their backs. ;-)
Speed speed speed i am so sick of that word and case in point...we beat Oregon in the rose bowl (just 3 years ago) who most said we wouldn't be able to compete with because they had SO much speed! We have the speed to compete with anyone if our coaches put us in the right positions to make plays..nuff said!!
Who's Zead..Zeads dead baby.
Oregon didn't have the team speed it has now. Speed is a huge advantage in college football. It's even a bigger deal if a college team's defensive front seven is loaded with speed.
That commercial rocks!
I think the term "SEC SPEED" Should be officially banned from the english language. It has gotten BEYOND nauseating.
Speed is speed.......it was never invented by the stupid ass SEC......
I guess Oregon's speed is only SPEED because when announcers talk abou thier speed they do nto call it SEC SPEED.
As much as I despise ESPIN i would love for Kenny Mayne to do a short, comedic documentary making fun of the that term.
Sounds like you have already thought about this.
I hate that term
"speed" is not the exclusive domain of the SEC. If it is then someone better tell all those SEC teams who LOST in their bowl game.
"The only thing That Team Up North will be tasting this year is the salty tears of defeat" - UFM
After watching the NCG last night. I'm not sure it was the speed that hurt Notre Dame. I believe Alabama was just bigger, stronger, and better coached. They had one receiver named Cooper that stood out. Their R/B's were big and maybe a bit faster for the their size. But I really didn't see any burners out their. I think Alabama played a great game and just had bigger and smarter players. I will say this though, fuck the SEC. Hope Urban kicks their Azz and just shows that its how you recruit and coach that wins championships. Go Bucks.
If we win titles I could care less what the media experts at espn say. To hell with em
For all of you who bash ESPN for stating the obvious the truth, that the SEC is the best conference with the most team speed including what Tressel used to call 'big speed' along the DL...
Why aren't you bashing Urban Meyer for touting the SEC team's superior speed? He must have really bought into the ESPN propaganda to think Alabama might actually be the best team in the country...better than the buckeyes this year. Where is the Urban bashing?
Don't care! Just win baby. That's all that matters.
You are dillusional. Alabama was the best team in the country. Didn't you watch the game. Do I think we could of gave them a better game then Notre Dame. Maybe. Who knows. Who gives a shit what Espn has to say but Urban knows that The Ohio State University will have to get better players to compete for the championship. I believe Urban is doing that and we will get our shot here in the next couple years. You can take that to the bank. Go Buckeyes.

No it's not! Sure Oregon had speed a few years ago at the skill positions and QB, but many teams have that. That said, Oregon didn't have the speed they have now on defense. Thanks for chiming anyway know-it-all!
OSU hasn't exactly been slow...except for one key position: O-line. That's where the speed difference hurt vs. UF and LSU.
Look at the WR's in 2005 alone...Holmes, Ginn, Gonnzo, Hartline, Robo. That's like 3 or 4 1st rounders on one team.
O-line...one first rounder (Mangold) recruited/coached by you-know-who the entire time he was in C-bus. Terrible.
Ohio invented Speed!!!! Not the sec!
Why do people keep bringing up Oregon Rose Bowl as an example that we have enough " speed " on this team to compete with SEC ?
1st of all that was 3-4 yrs ago & has NOTHING to do with NOW. Their team is completely different & our team is completely different.
#2 - and why do the people who keep bringing up Oregon as an example conveniently never mention Florida , LSU , USC , TEXAS ? In particular 3 of those teams ran us completely off the field like we were a 2nd rate Mac school.
You are NOT gonna beat Bama , LSU , Florida , Georgia , A & M starting a fullback at middle linebacker , a quarterback who can't throw the deep ball accurately & average starting safeties.
