Absolutely both JUCOs if they can get them
Then I think pick from Jones, Nelson and Prince.
If they all want in make room baby.
This is NOT a good problem to have..... the miss from last year was BIG, and will be a 2-3 class problem to solve even if we hit the pick 6 with this class. Ideally you snag 3 or 4 with each class.... one is a stud, 2 make the solid 2 deep and 1 washes out. Since it usually takes a year to develop that gives you a 2 deep of 8-9 with 3 studs.
2013 we have to instantly fix the 2 deep, and JUCOs are probably the only answer. If we can land 4 true freshman studs plus the JUCOS you gotta take them NOW since OL take time to develop.
2014 we have to bring in another 4 or 5 true freshman (unless we get 4 in 2013), so they are ready when the JUCO's leave
2015 Depending on how the 2014 kids work out we can get back to 3-4, or still need to go for 5.
Great question! Fortunately as things stand now any three we take will be great. However as I look at those four seniors leaving this year my first choice is the two JUCO prospects and then fill in behind them with two more prospects. I am in camp with taking six OLmen this year if they are quality. Urban of course knows best but if we don't take any TEs or RBs this year I think we would be okay with it.
Why do people continue to think we are in horrible need after this year for OL. We have OL and OT at that. Lisle, Decker, Dodson, Farris are all Tackles. Boren, Elflein , Gardner, and Underwood are interior. Honestly, I think we are are evaluating the Jucos in case any of the above don't progress this year. At that point Meyer would accept a commitment from them. No way in hell do you turn down a potential 5 star OL coming out of HS who you would have for no less then 3 years and more like 4 for a Juco you will have for 2.
Of the list, Jones and Prince are guaranteed to have a spot if they commit to tOSU.
Hail Hail to MeatChicken the Cesspool of the World!
The reason is pretty simple... none of the guys on your list have played any meaningful minutes and only Decker and Farris seem slotted for minutes this season.
Let's assume that both of them are solid.
That means we need 6 more guys capable of starting, and two of them need to be at least serviceable at OT.
Lisle isn't on campus yet and Dodson appears to be struggling on and off the field from "insider" reports.
The reason you go JUCO is "desperation" induced by Bollman's last recruiting class, this year's swing and a miss and the general "fact" that very very few true freshman are physically ready for DI OL. Simply look at Decker., and he is a STUD.
You simply can't strike out with a position group in 2 out of 3 classes and not have issues...And the way ya fix em is to tolerate a rebuilding year, grab a transfer (Miracle ala Boren oh thank the Lord) or go JUCO
