Im going to start with my prediction and lets hear yours!
My prediction will be Vonn Bell!!
This kid is going to be in my opinion our top 2 playmakers on defense when we line up to play TSUN mark my words! Bell already has a god-given knack for finding the ball and making a play and by the time we play "The Game" he will be a starter some way somehow!
Eli Apple, he is the man. No question about it.
Eli im hoping steps right in and start because I just dont feel to comfortable with doran grant...we've had stellar cornerbacks over the years but grant just dont seem like hes the one hopefully im wrong!
Gotta go with Bosa, kid just looks like a warrior.
Von Bell will not see the field on defense as much as people think... He'll be a special teams standout and see the field on defense a little but please understand that the coaches love these safeties. Especially Christian Bryant! He play SS and Barnett plays FS which is what Bell is more likely to play but our safeties are a little interchangeable at times. Barnett improved tremendously as the season went on. Those guys are SR's and will not let a TRUE FRESHMAN come in and steal their time. Their working hard right now so that doesn't happen.
With that said, I'll take a guess and go off the radar a little and say Michael Hill.. I see there are spots on the interior of that DL where someone can come in and shine. No one has solidified themselves there as a star yet so time can definitely be won in that position.
Offensively, I look for Jalin Marshall to step in right away and get some snaps on offense and special teams. I think Wilson and Elliot will RS and Marshall will have a chance along with Clark. I like Marshall's chances better in the slot than I do Clark on the outside. Both should see it early though, but not as starters. They'll be backups and get a few plays here and there.
Please understand guys that this team went 12-0 last year... We are not about to see 15 more freshman come in and take starting jobs because they had a nice ranking on rivals. That's not how it goes on this level. A lot of these guys are not physically or mentally to step in and play yet. They'll need to adjust to the speed of the game, the mental aspect, and SCHOOL. We've got 60 or so guys back who aren't giving up what they've busted their asses for the last 2 or 3 years so easy.
I'll go on record and say it now. Trey Johnson and Mike Mitchell won't sniff the field on defense. Cam Williams and David Perkins won't allow it. They'll play some special teams but they will not be starters anytime soon unless people start getting hurt. And as far as the QB's go... JT Barrett is the best throwing QB OSU has had on it's roster since Troy Smith! Book it!
Gateway to Heaven on Earth
Good point and prediction I too feel we have a special qb in JT Barrett the kid is smart, good arm, and born leader! Hes not gonna give us what Braxton Miller delivers running but I feel hes a better version of Kenny Guiton just more athletic
dontre wilson. there will not be too many touches available for him and he will not start, but he looked absolutely electric against some of the best competition (texas 5a) in the united states. its going to be fun watching him fellas mark it down
"Slow guys don't make big plays." -Ted Ginn Jr.
The reality is I think the smart money is on the early enrollees. I keep trying to remind people, many of these guys are coming in with only 2.5 months of college practice, scheme etc..by enrolling in June. With hat being said...I'm going with Eli Apple, cause there is a need at the other corner, DG is questionable and he will have been enrolled for 9 months of college football by the time the first game rolls around.
As for all of the other studs...I'm guessing perhaps the return game for Wilson, Clark or Marshall, that's an easier adjustment than anything else.

We may have lost the battle......but not the war.
As far as who will be given a chance out of the gate to make a significant impact beyond special teams?... I think Marshall & Baugh on offense and definsively the young linebackers will be in the rotation potetnially as will Apple.
Beyond that, who actually steps up and has an impact I think is often dependant on opportunity.
Where does opportunty come from?...injury!
Who has a history of injury?
Offesnively its Jordan Hall & in reality Carlos Hyde. So opportunity may rear its head for Marshall & Wilson if Hall goes down..maybe Clark too. As far as Hyde getting dinged, I think they would replace him with a RB rotation and see who grabs that and it could lend itself to an opporiunty for EZ, though he would have to really grab a hold of the few carries he might be given.
Defensively... a history of injury and being dinged often lies with Michael Bennett and Barnett. So Bosa and Hill may get an opportunistic shot as well as Bell at safety.
Baugh will be the starter at TE by game 3-4. Has the speed, athletism Meyer wants at TE that can attack the field vertically.
Hoping to see Clark, Marshall, Wilson, and Zeke on returns. Should be fun to watch special teams with all these young guys showing what they have. With Mitchell's speed and size he will probably be blowing people on ST's as well.
huh? Did you feel good about Roby before last year? How about Travis Howard? Freshman rarely make a difference....
Zero chance of that happening. ZERO! This is real football not a video game.
Saturday, the day when the kids are home from school...

Dontre Wilson, I know all the speed guys look great, but I think this young man will just shine, great speed, great hands, and finds the crease then goodbye.

I hope he does "shine", but I will be surprised if he sees the field for more than special teams and a few offensive plays here or there. He is listed at 165 lbs at that weight he's gonna get knocked out pretty quick.
I think Jalin Marshall is more likely to see more quality PT due to his body being more physically ready for the college game. I doubt either starts this year though, unless we see a lot of injuries.
