The closest that I will ever get to a Buckeye ring or Gold Pants. Saw it sold on e-bay April 29, 2011 for $8500.
All great players have bad stretches but it's how you finish and he stepped up and hit the shot that won the game....end of story....lets quit banging on the heart and sole of this team
Cleveland Orchestra Baby!! World's greatest!! The Brown's wet dream is to be them. The Ohio State University-Where the Illibuck Lives!
The final 5 minutes should be judged differently. No one is "banging on Craft" here. Stating that he was bad down the stretch is factual because you can back it up with evidence (3 missed free throws (2 on 1-1), unforced turnover, and failure to drive the ball). If you take that to mean that "Craft sucks" you miss the point. Ignoring Craft being bad today down the stretch doesn't change the reality.
The other poster suggesting that holding Ross to a different standard than Craft is wrong, why would you not hold them to a different standard? I've accepted that Ross is spectacular talent mixed with low basketball IQ plays. When Ross plays, I figure you will get the good with the bad. I just hope Ross has more good plays. As for Craft, his intangibles are his strong point. One of those is leadership. Your leader being shaky down the stretch breeds concern that pours onto the court. The team was shaky as a result. More is expected of Craft based on the type of player he is. It's not like I'm expecting him to be something he is not, such a shot blocker.
However we got here, I feel lucky to have escaped a talented ISU team and hope that is the last end of the game self destruct we see from Craft because we will not be so lucky to escape with a win with the talented teams in front of us.
How was he shaky? He missed some one and ones? He did cause several TOs and almost a 3rd down the stretch. He was doing his all to familiar sacrifice of his body diving after loose balls. Putting teammates in position to succeed. His decision making bar maybe one play was great down the stretch execution if free throws poor but again besides craft or Thomas who would you rather have at the line?
As pointed out before cramps or not Thomas was virtually non existent down the stretch but 2 free throws and giving up 6 points bc he either was late closing out or unable to. By the way thomas also had 2 TOs down stretch. One on pass he was receving on wing and another a lazy pass he made.
Ross we simply are expected to be ok with 2 completely unforced TOs in close game? I say hogwash. Kid should be held to minimal standards and not turning the ball over is a minimal standard especially down stretch.
Thomas and Ross both had worse stretch runs in that game than craft.
So you expect the same basketball IQ from Ross as Craft?
Thomas was virtually non-existent because Craft was not getting him the basketball. Thomas is the one whose FTs stabilized this team after Craft's shaky misses and bad reach ins defensively.
I call shaky for any player (especially your leader) to be 3 missed free throws (2 were 1 and 1s), failure to get the ball to your best scorer, a bad reach in foul, and an unforced turnover. He singlehandedly sparked ISU's run.
By any measure, how anyone could not say his last 5 minutes are bad is beyond me. You have to be the blindest of the apologists. Overall, Craft had a good game, but he was terrible down the stretch and we were lucky to win.
Our best scorer by your own admission couldn't even guard people bc of cramps. And let's be real Thomas is our best offensive player. Craft did get Thomas the ball and he had 2 TOs down the stretch. Once again 2 unforced ones. Not from a great play from ISU but 2 boneheaded plays. Between him and Ross we gave away 4 possessions requiring little to no effort or basketball skill on ISUs end.
No I don't expect same basketball IQ craft compared to Ross. I do expect him not to travel not once but twice late in the game effectively sabotaging 2 possessions. We have zero chance of scoring on unforced TOs. Inexcusable and that's a rule kids learn about first thing. One if the most basic rules. Hardly requires great basketball IQ.
Besides miss free throws tell me the other terrible plays he supposedly made?
Happy Father's Day.
You see that sign that says 'Rib Tips'??
