Not sure why everyone presupposes that Decker can play LT at an "elite"/ national championship level. Not a knock on him at all, but just look at the T's for Ala and Tex A&M. Wish we could have gotten a big time prospect to compliment him in this years class, because nearly everything else is all systems go. Even if we land a big time, national tackle prospect in '14 (which is not a sure thing) it's gonna be tough to ask them to play that early. Hate to say it, but this one has the makings of an Achilles heal to what is almost certainly going to be a NC contending team.
We did get Evan Lisle.... hes highly rated, and we have Dodson as well..
Evan is a top 100 prospect...
Im still not sold on the fact that Gardner won't end up playing Tackle...I honestly think he could end up as the steal of this class and a kid that worked his ass off to get his offer
Hey McFly, he will be playing RT, at least next year since, well, our starting LT will be returning. We are fine on the oline, especially with a 14 commit already and 3 more to come.
Wait, Norwell will be playing RT or Decker will be? Cuz I'm not so sure how that one will shake out at the end of the day, and not so sure why you are. In my mind, Norwell is a better RT at this stage in their respective careers than Decker is (and LT in a pinch for that matter).
Lisle also looked outstanding in his All Star game. Moved extremely well and is much bigger than his listed measurements.
He looked fantastic. Much better than I expected. He'll be a true Soph in '14. U want that on an island against Ala's or LSU's DE's in a game for all the money? Even on the right side, that's a stretch.
Bama runs a pro style offense, and Olineman are a lot more important in that system than ours. We dont NEED elite tackles, we need athletic ones.
The only position on our O-line that we're reloading at is RT, and the starter will most likely be Decker. Period. This is the first thread I've seen about our O-line (outside of this years recruiting class) this off-season for a reason.
Thats true, but hopefully the success of the spread in the NFL will start to attract recruits.
Sarah sorry about the Herpes.
The offensive tackle in Meyer's offense are very important..The Urban Meyer running game can be broken down into a few key plays, these few plays are used in various personnel and formations, but at its core of Meyer’s running game can be described as..the zone read...the counter..the trap..the QB power play..and any varying aspects of the option..Urban Meyer's offense is pretty heady stuff and highly trained and developed lineman especially tackles are needed.

Woody and Archie.................................. Alex being Alex, ....................................and Woody at Dennison
Well I guess urban might as well abandon his goal of a nc now...
What have I apparently missed that would indicate Decker can't play left tackle at a high level? Just because he wasn't a five star coming out of high school we are to assume we can't win a NC with him in there? The guy was a true freshman last year. Call me crazy but I'm willing to give him just a little more time before I label him unfit to play at a NC level.

This too shall pass...
Meyer turned a 3rd string tight end into an NFL tackle in about 9 months. I think he knows what he's doing with the line.
Watching a video clip is not watching film. Also, I can only account for this silly panic by noting it's such a down time. (Even Duane's last article seemed to be showing the wear.) Wariner did a GREAT job this last year, turning a glaring team weakness into a strength. Do you think he will stay in bed this year?
Everybody's got to get better, and most of them will. Personally, I expect an All-American or two as we proceed.
