I’m just tired of all the excuses in the B1G. I just read the article on Myer and the coach’s association speech and it just shows how far UFM and the elite coaches across the country are from the rest of the league. I’m tired of the, “Gentlemen’s Agreement,” I’m tired of the, “SEC Cheats,” I’m tired of the, “Myer is a Scumbag,” and I’m really tired of the, “Enabling fan bases of the B1G,” who are making up a thousand excuses for why their coaches and their teams stink. For if they were fully aware, they would realize how lazy and incompetent their coaches and their programs truly are. Instead of following the lead from a man who has accomplished so much in the sport when he calls out in ineptness of the coaches in the league; they resent and vilify the man. Bottom line is, Meyer simply outworks the B1G coaches and obviously they would rather sit around and bitch then get off their asses and make their teams better…I’m tired of all the excuses.

Expectations are different at each school - both among administrators and alumni. If Iowa is content to challenge for the division once every 4-6 years, then the recruiting efforts are not going to change. Unfortunately, the legacy of Big 2, Little 8 shows us this is not something that's likely to change.
Thats why I could care less how much money they pay UFM because he is worth every penny. They will start getting off their butts when it is to late and they are getting shown the door or getting Slaughtered on the field.
I kno. I'm tired too!
But are you really tired?
Yes I am!!!
After this prior bowl season I was dumbfounded as to the number of people were satisfied with the B1G post season play. Talking about how the teams played hard and did better than what they thought they would. I posted and told folks to quit accepting mediocrity. I got blasted. It's going to take UFM snatching the next 4 B1G conference titles before they wake up.

I'm getting relatively tired of our fans starting to sound like the rich spoiled kids. We know almost nothing about what goes into recruiting at each big ten school. You don't think these coaches want to win? I guess we'll just snap our fingers and tell the coaches to suck it up and try harder. That should do the trick.
he wouldn't let his players pose in the Playboy All-American magazine edition, he said, "Cause you can't play football with an erection."
I look at it differently. I see new (within two years) coaches all over the conference. The only coaches who have had a problem with Meyer are Dantonio, Pelini, and Bielema. In fact, only two others - Ferentz and Fitzgerald - have been around long enough to make an informed opinion. The rest are at schools not named "the Ohio State University," so it will take them awhile to reboot the programs at those schools. Perhaps they are willing to follow Meyer's blueprint, we don't know. But I see progress and improvement from where they were in every school but Iowa, MSU, Nebraska, and Wisconsin. And Wisconsin's program is about to be upgraded, IMO. I will even give Beckman's Illinois program a pass for another year if he can breath some life into it - he's proven he can.
OSU, PSU, scUM, Indiana, Purdue, Illinois, Wisconsin, and Minnesota all have new, or fairly new coaches. And Northwestern's program is solid. That leaves dinosaurs Dantonio, Ferentz, and Pelini. If all the others step up their games, these three will have to do likewise or become extinct.
You don't seem really tired to me. Just tired.
You can't handle the truth
The fans (especially Sparty) who say they would rather be 7-6 with dignity instead of 12-0 Urban Meyer style make me actually laugh out loud. First off they are either liars or just plain losers, and secondly what exactly has Urban done here that is sleazy? And don't say offering committed players because that happens at all 120 some D1 schools.
Yeah I'll be really tired later!
I am sure most BIG coaches are trying their best in recruiting. As ohiou said, we don't know what goes on at each school as far as budget restrictions, etc. And don't forget not everyone has a "rock star" head coach to generate the interest from the recruits. Lot harder sell for say Purdue than it is for OSU. Now if there are things the BIG can do to help recruiting ( and there is), then that should be looked at.
Sparty lol. "Show me a good loser, and I will show you a loser". Woody
I'm convinced that one of the big reasons is the pay scale. We upped the ante when we hired UFM, maybe because Gene Smith needed him so bad, and gave him the money to hire the assistants we got. I can't believe Herman and Withers are here and stayed here, and money must have a little something to do with it.
In some ways it's either football excellence or academics. tOSU doesn't have to worry about that, but so many schools do. tOSU is huge in both, everybody knows that. Not many others are and can't afford to be. Remember when Maryland joined the B1G and all they seemed to talk about was getting out of financial hell with athletics? That's more the norm than what we see with the Bucks. I'm a professor at a small private school, and this argument comes up every day. It's different at the bigger places, but not that much. I taught at a D1 school too, and it's there too. Maybe not "either or" like at a smaller school, but more "how much" to each.
Until these B1G schools either commit the dollars (beginning with the coaches) or get out, we're going to have this ridiculous imbalance in recruiting and on the field. I think UFM has been directing this at the ADs and administrators more than to the coaches. That's where the growth needs to come from. This whole thing should be coming from Smith or Gee, not Urban and certainly not in a public way. The coaches don't have that much control over that money. I think Fans like Sparty just see the imbalance and are powerless, then lash out and react poorly when UFM points it out.
Hate to say it, but we must level the playing field first(I.e oversighning). Until the BIG office either allows it or pushes the NCAA to stop it, we will always be at a disadvantage from the starting point. It really does boil down to simple math with regards to oversighning.
I like all the new coaches in the league except Beckman. I also think it is time for Feremtz to make that NFL jump. He has held it over Iowa's head for so long that they cannot afford good assistants due to his salary. I believe Feremtz is a good coach, but everything has its time. The sport is not even the same as it was 5years ago, much less over a decade when Ferentz first started at Iowa.
Money should not be an issue. Each team gets. 24 million a year just from the big ten don't tell me they can't afford to pay coaches. Just another excuse
