I have been in Luke's corner from the getgo. There is no truer Buckeye out there. I must agree there for awhile the results made it difficult to see him getting the nod. However, many forget and many just do not give enough credit to the job Luke has done under very difficult circumstances. I am just hoping we run the table, win the B10 Championship and win the Rose Bowl. Then I have to think it would make it very difficult to not give him the HC job. In regards to Urban I can't argue the instant creditability it would give us but neither can I argue that it would be just a temporary fix nor our image could be further damaged by players off the field conduct if it even touched on what it was when he was at the helm in Florida. I honest think the best thing for the program long run is Luke leading our program for the next 10-15 years rather than a 2-4 year stint by Urban.

_ichigan Football would be Minnesota without The Great State of Ohio!! O-H! I-O!
I, not that my opinion matters, have been very critical of Herbstreit in my past comments. However, everything he said (that was quoted above) makes perfect sense and I agree with it. How in the world could OSU not make LF the HC next year and beyond if he runs the table and plays in the Big Ten Title Game? And, as KH points out, we should probably win our next 3 and that would set up a very important final game with UM, with OSU holding an 8-3 record at that point. Regardless of what happens at UM, that should guaranty LF the job for next year. If they beat Michigan, how can they not give him the job for 2012?
What's more, if all of that happens, why would Meyer or anyone else want the job for 2012. If your predecessor went 9-3 (possibly 11-3), under the worst circumstances ever, why would you want to follow him? Anything less than a NC would be unacceptable. Who would want that pressure? Not Meyer with all of his existing health problems.
I like Meyer and would be very happy if he became the HC. But, it would be very unfair to LF if he wins 8 or more games this year and then is dumped for Meyer!

I wasn't saying it comes down to Michigan as if only that game mattered. I am saying it now comes down to Michigan because of where we stand today after the entire season to this point and my belief that we will win the next three, including Penn State. If we lost to Penn State, my point becomes moot.
Also, what about Fickell being hired long-term then hiring a new offensive coordinator. With a solid OC you don't think Fickell could have major success here? The defense is going to be great next year. If we have an O-line and some good playcalling I think the O gets much better as well.
