Great futuristic insight from the Michigan WR coach Hecklinski in today's Ann Arbor. Com, he reports speed is overrated at WR.
Huh, speed kills, and the SEC is dominating with it.
The article notes how none of their WR commits have explosion or speed, and Dukes is the highest ranked at the 60 range or so, the others ranked even lower, and they lack speed.
The WR coach noted he is looking for a Michigan man WR look, and speed is overrated. Catching the ball and having that Michigan man look at WR counts. Great stuff.
More like, he whiffed again in another class for elite WR speed, because enough WR's they offered with that said no thanks.

Against directional Michigan teams maybe...against team that have a defense with a pulse yes. They are gonna be a glorified 1970's squad in a couple of years.
Guess when you can't land any speed, it all of a sudden becomes overrated. Classic
That article is comedic gold, someone should link it.
It is on the OSU free recruiting board below for free.
Speed is overrated, yep, it dominates college football for the true elites and Michigan has very little of it.
But what if the kids just believe they are fast. That counts for something, doesn't it?
They certainly coulda used a little more speed on the outside against Bama and South Carolina. To your point 83, outside of Robinson they really looked like they had no business sharing the same field. Particularly against Bama.
ND bailed them out a bit after their performance against Bama in the title game though.
South Carolina's back up QB, and minus their best WR, ran by UofM in the passing game like Manning in his hey day with the Colt's and his WR's.
Speed is overrated at UofM, it sure is, they lack it big time and this 13 class whiffed on it across the board as well.

My brother went to the OSU/Michigan game. He told me without Denard we would have destroyed them. He also added that we did everything in our power to keep them in the game. He said there were WR;s open and Brax missed them a lot. He said Roundtree and Denard were their best weapons and Gallon/Funchess were the next tier.
When a freakin TE is your biggest weapon on offense...big big trouble. The will be able to beat MAC schools and maybe lower B10 schools but ND,MSU,OSU,and NEB are beating them next year.
@UCONN,@PSU.@Iowa,@NW,Minny, and Indiana will not be as big of pushovers as they may think. I think they drop 1-2 of those games. If Gardner goes down for any significant amount of time they miss a bowl game.
I was there and that's accurate. If it weren't for our penalties and missed tackles, we would have blown them out.
I honestly believe the offense will be deadly. We have burners everywhere. Ramon Taylor is their best corner unless Countess comes back 100%...who is their best safety? Urban goes empty set...they are done.
Shane Morris under center, Kyle Kalis at WR.
What could possibly be better than that?
Yea, you could certainly say that about a lot of games Michigan played in the last few years. Robinson made them look a lot better than they were. Feels like Hoke is trying to pick up where Bielema left Wisky. Good enough to compete for 2nd place in the B1G every year.
The problem with what they're doing on offense is if you don't have similar personnel as the Bama's and even the Stanford's of the world, you ain't beating the good teams in a smashmouth pro style offense. That's been the crux of Wisky's problem in their 3 straight Rose defeats.
I miss my Kate Upton Picture
Now their over obsessive OL recruiting is starting to make sense. Who cares about speed, line the 6'6" 300 lber out wide and let the secondary try to tackle him.
He is correct if you consider his comments in the proper context. It doesn't matter how fast/slow their WR's are, considering the accuracy of Gardner and Morris, they will never have a ball to run with.
Rich Rod did not think defense made a difference and we know where that got them!!
This reads like a piece from The Onion! Wow. I'm literally LOL over here.
Speed is less-important than "looking like a Michigan man"??? What the ...
