finally, we are set to be the premier man to man cover D in the nation. Buck fans... no more sweating late in the game now!! o-yea
We may have lost the battle......but not the war.
finally? ohio st has the most starting dbs in the nfl. did you just start following osu?
Shh.. Be nice to our bandwagon brothers out there. Just kiddin'--he aint a bandwagoner.
We will still always be sweating late in games. We aren't going to be playing a ton of man to man late in games.
No matter how good your corners are, you don't typically want to put yourself in a situation where one mis-step can lead to a TD when you are trying to hold the lead. People hate on the Prevent defense, and it probably deserves some of the hate, but any coach who gets beat deep for a TD because they called for Zero coverage would face a ton of heat for not making sure everything stays in front of the secondary.
I got what u was saying ponzie..I think the last couple of years our secondary have been hit or miss..& now u c what ufm can do when he has a couple of years to recruit these kids!.. This year with or without bell we will have 1 of the best secondary classes ,period!!..& with webb already committed for next year we r looking real good for years to come!!.. Man i love urban & what he has done in less than 2 years as our coach!!.. Back to the top of the college football world we go!!..
Hopefully our secondary is so good that the games are over by halftime.
So are my lovelies below!!
not quite yet....need to keep building depth so your first and second teamers both look like first teamers. but we are getting there....david bostons v winfields..springs v glenns..michael jenkins v chris gambles those were epic battles to watch in practice and it carried over to games..... so we are getting closer but not there yet but urban warfare is on the job!
Although there may be some reason for optimism, I just can't start thinking we're going to have lock down corners based upon a recruit that is over a year away from taking his first snap on defense. I'm thrilled he's going to be a Buckeye but even highly rated recruits don't become lock down corners. People overuse the term "lock down corner" and there aren't a lot of corners that are deserving of that kind of praise. I'm sure OSU's defense will be very hard to throw on with our defensive line, looking forward to seeing what the defense will be like in next year and after that.
Ding ding ding. We have a winner.
I'm cautiously optimistic with every recruit. Very rarely are there sure things in recruiting. Clowney is an example of one.
Always a chance that somebody won't pan out, off the field trouble, etc.
On paper, we will have an elite secondary. Conley and Woodard on the corners with Burrows and Murray at safety with Bogard at the star. Sounds good to me.
For me webb means another great player on d!!... No one can deny the players urban has added on the defensive side of the ball from last years class to now this years class & a great start on next years class... We always hear that u win with great defenses!.. Whos had better classes on d these past few years?..Not sure there has been & definitely not in our conference!!!
John Fox and the Denver Broncos totally agree with you!

Yep. It's clear that the depth is now in it's building stage. When a starter goes out, the backup is just as good if not better. I keep thinking it's going to take the entire 2013 and 2014 classes until we start seeing the real difference. By the time 2015-2016 rolls around, and these underclassmen become experienced upperclassmen, is when you will see the major holes as filled in the thin areas.
It takes a little bit of time to build depth, chemistry and experience. It's about building a foundation (much like the d-line haul from last year), then recruiting to fill needs, concentrate on certain spots of need and continue to build depth on areas of strength as well.
Once this all comes to fruition, this is going to be an extremely difficult team to beat much like Alabama is now.
And I shall rejoice in victory for another 365 days over That School Up North.
I thought you were ringing the Bell for another recruit.
Did you forget about Apple, Burrows, Conley? lol
I agree, I just have a real good feeling about urb's 2 classes, DB's look good on paper and on film. I know its high school film but its still exciting!!
