I am still in favor of playing our rivals on the last day of the regular season, but I think The Game should be moved back to the weekend before Thanksgiving. The whole reason for moving to the current date was to keep The B1G relevant when all other conferences played Thanksgiving weekend and later.
Now that we have a conference championship game in December, we should go back to playing The Game the third Saturday in November. This would give B1G teams Thanksgiving off and give an emotional buffer for Ohio State after beating Michigan.

I see what you are saying, but doubt it happens.
We are coming for you Bama!
While we are in separate divisions I favor playing Michigan to open up the college football season on Monday night. Imagine that spectacle and if a rematch happened in November it woul feel like two different teams.
I see what you're saying, but I disagree. I like the later date because it's one less week before the end of the season and the bowl game. In the past I think we've had too big of a gap between the two and that can lessen focus.

The game the weekend after thanksgiving is nice because a lot of former Ohioans, like myself, are visiting their families in Ohio. Makes it easier to attend the game or watch it with my friends from Ohio.
For completely selfish reasons, I like The Game right where it is for the next three years. My OSU children come back home to Texas during the Thanksgiving break and we join the other Buckeyes here to watch the game together. After the younger graduates, it's still more likely they'd be home that weekend, but I'd understand completely if others prefer another date.
I understand where you are coming from. A lot of teams play their rival early on in the conference play.
However the game being the last game on the schedule makes it so much more of a rivalry. How many times in the 90's did we have a NC talented team and f_cking scUM beats us. In college football, if you are going to lose, it's best to lose early and losing the last game of the season would render out season pretty much worthless
Basically the winner of the game, goes to the NC/Rose (maybe not recently, due to lack of *ichigan success, but you get the point)

I agree with you if we were in the same division. But it doesn't make since any longer in seperate divisions.
Playing them back to back weeks when and if it does happen will cheapen the game.
Have u not heard that we will be in the same division in 2014? Atleast that is what all the analysts and blogger have said is going to happen.

The championship game will still be played in Dec., so the gap between the end of the season and the bowls will be the same. It would just give one off week between the scUM game and B1G championship.
Will Never happen. It could be the 2nd game of the year but they will never open up with that game.
Hail Hail to MeatChicken the Cesspool of the World!
if this conference was smart the game would be moved back to the third weekend of november and there would be a bye week thanksgiving weekend before the B1G title game.

That's exactly what I was trying to say, but in less words. Thank you
The only place we need to move it to is prime time. The early start is done. Big Ten needs to realize these two teams are their best products and if they want to help these teams and promote the league...move THE GAME from 12:30 to at least 6:30 pm. Wake up Big Ten!!
Nope. Last game of the year. Period. End of discussion.
Look when it is played this year. What do you think about that?

If we aren't in the same division this is the best solution.
I see it's Thanksgiving weekend this year and think it would be better if it was the 23rd. Then off on the 30th, and then play December 7th for the B1G title.
Yeah because we're playing scum twice a year as it is now...
Seriously why do people feet about playing them twice in a year, because I welcome reducing their all time wins record as quickly as possible.
Besides even IF we we're to play them in b2b weeks we'll still be pumped about it because in the bttg it's either for a nc or a rose bowl and neither of those options would be boring to me.
Keep it as the last game of the season.
1) both teams improve all season and are at their best for the last game, barring injuries.
2) the stakes are at their highest when the winner usually is playing for an NC, a B1G title. No time to mend it afterwards. If it was played at the beginning of the season, there is too much time to improve in the rankings. I like the stakes high.
Play this as the first game of the season and the rivalry is less interesting.
