A little down time question before Christmas and before the Bowl games.!!
Mine is: (are) 1984 Christmas Carol with George C Scott as Scrooge. A close 2nd is Christmas Story (You'll Shoot Your Eye Out).
A Christmas Carol:
George Scott does a masterfull of playing Scrooge in this one. He really lives the part in the movie...great scenes and lines.......a must see every year.....
The Christmas Story seting reminds me of what our house looked like growing up in Central Ohio in the late 40's....right down to the kitchen stove, ice-box(as we called it) and kitchen table....that movie is a classic.. the ending where the snow is falling and the parents are sitting in the dark with Silent Night playing is very nolstogic to me.......and believe it or not my parents would not let me have a BB gun either at that age and they did say.."becasue you might shoot your eye out"..ha ha

I love all the Christmas Carroll movies. But I am more partial to one tv special I love the grinch my dad played it for me on audio when I was 3 or 4 while I was in the hospital with spinal meningitis and ensephilitis .
Agree with George C Scott on this. Great great performance. For pure schmaltz I'll go with White Christmas.

One of my favorites that kind of flies under the radar is Just Friends. Not a classic by any means, but pretty damn funny and a good, careless watch.
north till ya smell it, west till ya step in it.
A Christmas Carol - 1951 B&W, with Alastair Sim as Scrooge...regarded by many to be the best movie rendition of Charles Dickens Classic. I was also impressed with Jim Carey's animated version a couple years ago....it was obvious seeing the animated movie, and hearing Jim Carey, that he had studied Alastair Sim with great detail in his portrayal of Scrooge.
