I like Braxton a lot and if Meyer loves him I definitely think he's going to be a great Buckeye. On the flip side I can't stand Denard and the feeding himself celebration he does after scoring. With that said, I just don't see Braxton's passing as a threat to keep defenses honest. Sure he's going to get better and the media already considers him an outside Heisman contender (strange) but as I look at him in comparison to Denard, I don't see a single facet of his game that outshines Denard. Coming into the season I definitely thought he was the better passer of the two. Am I missing something?
Denard is a four year starter.
Miller is two games into his second season. He was literally coached by a glorified videographer last year. Which is to say he wasn't coached at all.
My point: Miller is as good as Denard today. Two years from now he will be light years better.
As much as I hate ttun and Dennard he is fast and can make plays for sure we all know. So i dont know if its play calling or maybe I hope we played a tougher team but what I seen of Dennard he ran and threw some deep balls as well. Its not that I dont think Brax cant do it just not sure why he is not. My first thoughts from watching highlights of their game at least.
I definitely considered the time Denard has been playing but I guess I still thought Miller was going to be the better passer as soon as this season. All indications out of camp were that his passing had improved substantially. I just haven't seen it and the coaching staff rarely has him throwing down field more than 20 yrds.
Yeah, right now I don't think he is better than Denard, probably no dual threat QB in the country is....but if Braxton continues to improve, when all is said and done i think we will all (or most) be happy with the results.
Braxton is much smarter!!!!!!!
You seriously think Denard is a better passing QB then Miller is right now? You must have been watching 2 completely different games. Denard absolutely has no accuracy what so ever and while Miller still struggles at times he is a much better at passing then Denard. Go back and compare both games from each of them, it isn't even close.
Braxton IS Denard. WE are Michigan right now, with a slightly better defense. We are one dimensional on offense (due to play calling) and we go as our QB goes, we are just like Michigan on offense.
Unfortunately....I noticed the same thing. We are only slightly better on defense right now simply due to schematics. I believe talent wise we are faster than they are on defense. I think the defense will be ramped up as the season goes. Remember, Michigan has "the greatest defense coach in the universe" in Mattison.
Not only that but Braxton didn't even play all of last year.
Have to agree with you. Brax missed some throws and still completed 75% of his passes yesterday. Denard didn't even hit the 60% mark.
I know it was underneath stuff most of the day but 18-24 is pretty good. Most of his short passes were accurate and his touch on the TD pass was good. He needs to work on the deep ball and not under throwing it so much. Denard is a better deep passer but his accuracy is much worse. He bounces a lot of throws and doesn't hang in the pocket as well as Braxton. I'd take Braxton right now over Denard!
Braxton is a far superior passer right now. Denard is more electric with the ball in his hands, but not by much.
Gateway to Heaven on Earth
Braxton doesn't play for a school created by the devil.
You can't handle the truth
Denard is not a 4 year starter. Tate Forcier started his freshman year. Denard in 2 games into his 3rd year as a starter.
Our quarterback does front flips, suck it.
Yep, Robinson was soo bad as a FR that Tate won the QB job.
Here's how I compare them
Denard is faster straight line...
and thats the only area hes better than Braxton today...
Throwing motion is better for Braxton
Braxton is more elusive and has more moves
Braxton has a stronger arm, his balls have more zip, and a better trajectory down field
Braxton is more accurate as a passer, and more consistently accurate (not that he's that consistent yet, but look who hes being compared to).
Braxton has a chance to be drafted as a QB, while Denard will be a WR at the next level
Denard is not a quarterback, he is a reciever playing QB
My point remains the same.
Denard couldn't start as a Freshman, Brax did. Denard was mainly a running threat his Sophomore year and put up big numbers against weak defenses. Braxton is steadily putting up better numbers and I think he will be more consistent. Braxton is also a much better passer. Denard is a Senior and he throws arm punts up. Braxton is definitely improving his passing and is better right now as a passer over Denard who is a Senior.
