I guess it is good for the fans and those who get aroused over "SPARQ" ratings.
My fear is that FB is trending more towards the cess pool known as college hoops, in terms of recruiting and the importance of AAU v HS team.
I yearn for the good old days where TEAMS worked out toghthor, they camped together.
I'm as quilty as anybody, but the summer camp circus and the resultant cottage industry which has elevated uber-tools like Tom Lugenbill and his brethern into media stars is nauseating.
SIDEBAR:I threw up in my mouth this morning when I read UK sent Matt Elam 172 letters - ON THE SAME DAY!
Good God, give it a rest! You don't like camps or SPARQ rating...I get it. The problem is, you're probably in the minority. SPARQ gives us an accurate idea of the athletic ability of a recruit. Why would you not want to know that? Does it tell us their character, etc...no but it's not designed to. Camps give kids a chance to compete against the best and see how good they could be. Why would you not want to know that? You make no sense.
I'm sure the kids that participate in the camps don't think they are dumb. If the kids like to do it than who cares.

The 2014 Buckeyes are working out together as a team. Just no other school is cool enough to basically get their entire recruiting class invited.

"I'm sure the kids that participate in the camps don't think they are dumb. If the kids like to do it than who cares."
So "if the kids like something" then who cares.
I tell who who might not like it.
The HS coaches who are trying to build a team/chemistry.
I can see a day in the not so distant futre where it will be mnore important for a kid to win this stupid flag football torney than a state championship.
Where some dime bag "counselor" holds more sway over a prospect and his college decision than his HS coach.
I'm a little old school myself...so I am not crazy about NIKE/ESPN/LUGINIBIL sleaze being all over high school kids...
At the same time the kids that are at events like The Opening are so few compared to the amount of kids that play high school football that it doesn't bother me all that much...
Dude...you're really going off the deep end here. I hope this isn't a reflection of your sales technique at your Fortune 500 company.
Let me add...Urban Meyer agrees with Diddy...
First off if you wanted AAU gone a State could get rid of it. In Ohio the only football that is played is HS due to it being the only sanction full pad football allowed to be played in the state. This is why you don't see Summer 7v7 teams in Ohio. If you participate in 7v7 you can't play HS football in Ohio.
Hail Hail to MeatChicken the Cesspool of the World!
I feel ya. What's the point of sending that many letters in one day? What they are really saying is..."Hello, we're desperate. Please come to our school. Pretty please. With sugar on top." I'm the type of person that something like that would turn me off. If you want to send something out to me once a day...fine, but honestly...who the F*#% wants to get 172 letters the same day from the same school? Its one thing to get 172 letters, but from one school or person? Please!

If I am a high school football coach, I'd want my BEST players to attend these camps to get instructions from some of the best in the country. Nobody is going to care more about 7 on 7's on team VaporCarbon (whatever the F that means) than a state football champtionship. EVER...
Technically, kids can't participate in organized events right now for HS FB anyway. Not sure how much "team chemistry" you are going to get in weight training.
These kids are practicing against the best of the best in the country, it is only going to make your best player(s) even better.
I don't get what the big deal is.
And if you are asking who pays for this stuff... WE DO.. By following these events and making them more and more popular. This way NIKE invests more of the money from the jerseys, shoes, shirts, shorts, hats.. etc. (that we purchase) into these events.

If you don't think Urban Meyer likes seeing his recruits highlighted on ESPN at The Opening to a nationwide audience you are crazy.
Not as quilty as me bro.
I believe you are wrong on the 7v7 in Ohio. There are 7v7's all over, just not as elite as some states - more local.
These players are going to work out with their teams. Just because they are putting in extra work and competing does not mean it is a bad thing.
sorry I forgot its all about you
This. Showing out at events like this gives Urban and OSU even more credibility. You better believe other current recruits and future recruits see this. Is it a coincidence we just got all kinds of predictions for Samuel and Roberts? I don't think so. NOTE: I realize we have been the favorite for Samuel, but now suddenly the experts are putting money on it...
Please dont use that phrase.
Replace with some iteration of "performing well".
This isn't the And1 Forum's thread on "Could Spyda start for the Heat"?
I'll use whatever terms I want to use you racist fucking bigot. Why don't you use a term you didn't learn from synonyms.com. Get back in your moms basement and whack off to some anime.
