Assuming Amir is our starting center next year who do we have to back him up? Or will we just use the small lineup we have been seeing?
McDonald will be the backup
I vote small line up
Either Loving or McDonald unless we add a new player
Thats right. Forgot about McDonald.
We don't even have a small lineup if Thomas leaves. If Amir and McDonald aren't in, that means our best big man defensively is Ross. Loving is 6'8", but he's not physical. If we go without a big man, we're looking at Craft-Scott-Smith-Thompson-Ross.
I think Mcdonald could be a decent backup. He actually has a decent post game. He's athletic and active. I'm not sure he'll be a great rebounder, but he could be a good dose of energy off the bench.
I don't know why, but that guy reminds me of Amir. Lol.
We may have lost the battle......but not the war.
Coyoungin on twitter. Circular square movement.
north till ya smell it, west till ya step in it.
We better hope Amir grows up in the off season and learns how to stay aggressive throughout the whole game. McDonald is the only other big we have. We can play small but if you haven't noticed, when we play small it really hurts our rebounding. When Amir was out in the first half, we got killed on the boards and Wichita drove to the basket at will
Aside from DT returning for his SR year, the single most important development Thad needs to have happen is the emergence of Williams as a legitimate post threat. Not even all B1G mind you, just a guy that can average close to 8-10 points a game and a half dozen rebounds or so. Then we will be perhaps the most balanced team Matta has ever had even without DT. Teams absolutely don't have to guard nor game plan around Amir Williams one iota. That hurts what we can do offensively...A LOT. Couple that with two lead guards who can't shoot for shit and you get last night's result. Thad passed on a big in the '12 class and it looks like now the '13 class as well so he must've been dam certain he will get something out of AW/TM in the '13-14 season or we're in deep shit. I know he couldn't have been foolish enough to bank on getting an Okafor type of 5 man in the '14 class, could he have?
I didn't. I saw that he barely saw the floor and since the concensus is that Williams hasn't shown us much, what does that say for McDonald? To make an improvement from the center position we are going to have to see McDonald give us atleast what Ravenel gave us. From the short time McDonald saw the floor, I'm not seeing it. I hope I'm wrong.
