First of all, I know the obvious answer: it is ESPiN.
But I find in HIGHLY suspicious that when they listed coaches who won multiple championships they failed to even mention Woody. They even mentioned Ara (who only won two), Tom Osborne, of course/saban. No Woody Hayes! Come on ESPiN! He won FIVE at OSU!!!! Three consensus (which is still legitimately 5 because of the system at the time). I heard Mike and Mike discussing the same topic this morning. Listed many coaches and, again, no mention of Hayes. I guess they've not only wiped out our 2010 season but our overall history from the record books as well.
"according to a source familiar with the goings on behind the doors of the WHAC,there is absolutely no panic.Actually, quite the contrary."
Yeah, I noticed that too. Must say it was pretty weak. Whether the producers didn't do their homework, or were sticking it to OSU, that's a fail either way for ESPN. But of course Herbie was right there to point out that Woody should be listed too. Oh wait.
Fake ass Buckeye:)
That did hurt. Woody was everything to almost all these coaches. he was their mentor's mentor. i keep waiting for Herbstreit to step up just once. what is wrong with me? Herbie is a tool.
Wait until we are on top again then the "Frosted Wonder" will return home.
I think Herbie tries too hard to show he is unbiased on a national level. If he mentioned Woody, there is no way that could be construed as him being a homer, not to a normal fan. But, I'm sure if he did ESPN would get a ton of “Herbie is a Buckeye homer" email
I don't envy any of those analyst positions. Sure the gig is great, but the majority of them played college ball for a team they love and have to show no bias.
Look at this board, guys like May, Pollack and Palmer get blasted for showing bias towards a conference or a dislike to a team. So you can alienate the fanbase of your team or be hated by the nation....seems like a lose/lose.
I'm not denying Herbie hasn't done a few douche bag things, but all those guys are in a tough spot.

Be careful man, saying stuff like this might get a person fired.
I might be wrong, and I'm certainly not sticking up for espenis, but wasn't the criteria used: "won 3 championships in 4 years".
...wait, I'll bet they put those parameters on their list, just to keep Woody's ghost turning over in his grave :-)
Woody and Archie.................................. Alex being Alex, ....................................and Woody at Dennison
That whole ESPN "gameday" crew is getting pretty sick as I see it....Desmond Coward can't take off his Mee-crapped-again hat, Chris Fowl-up's distain for the Buckeyes shows on his face, the old man who had a stroke is becoming pathetic in his appearances on there, needs to hang what's left of it, up, and Herbie is just a plain "suck-up" to which ever side is winning..
If ND had done that to Alabama there whould have been a river of kiss-ups, suck-ups, etc that would have been sickning, to the point of "running a hungry dog off a gut wagon".
Meyer's appearance on there at lest pulled their "chestnuts" out of the fire last night!
I haven't listened to anything this morning but last night that was the main point: 3 championships in 4 years.
As the OP stated, they mentioned Ara Parseghian. He won two in his career. No, at least twice the list was "multiple national champs."
Let me get this right.
BigJimmie, the guy who was born before Woody ever started coaching at Dennison, let alone tOSU...
Big Jimmie, the guy who grew up a few stones' throws from the Horseshoe...
Big Jimmie, the guy who was told by his dad that he could not to go down and sell the football lineup that he normally sold at the stadium, because it was snowing too hard, and therefore missed the Snow Bowl vs Michigan in 1950....
THAT Big Jimmie.....is calling Lou Holtz old?
Kidding you my friend GO BUCKS
(ps, love your stories)
Depends on who "they" are. Was he listening to Mike and Mike? Golic is unapologetically a blathering ND super fan. So I take no slight if he erroneously mentions Ara and forgets Woody.
I get that point, Luther, and I disagree. To add Woody to a historical list isn't promoting his alma mater, and couldn't be seen that way by ESPN. That's like an Ohioan adding Ohio to a list of states that has only 49 on it. It is a record.
I know that he used to try to be seen as unbiased, but you are saying he's working for a company that won't let him mention the coach that put us on the map without a threat of firing. If that's true, he's decided to turn his back on his school for money. How is that a great defense for him? Wouldn't that be the very definition of "fake ass Buckeye"?
I am pretty sure they mentioned Frank Leahy (46,47, + 49) , not Ara, but again, I was in and out during the telecast of that game due to the humor on the field, and might have missed it if they also referred to Ara Parseghian.
No, I don't ESPN will fire him if he mentions anything OSU. I think he is trying to protect his image. ESPN has nothing to do with it. My point is that you can't make everyone happy. In this very thread there have been complaints about how others are too biased.
I am just saying, its a lose/lose situation for an analyst. You show too much bias towards your team, the nation calls you a homer.....you try and be as unbiased as possible and you piss off your teams fan base.
Personally, I don't care what Herbie says. He just another talking head on TV.
i saw the 3 out of 4 years winning NC coaches list. are you sure they listed ara and not the nd coach from the 40s?
Think BigJimmie is talking about Corso (who does need to retire)...
My fault ... I take back my earlier comment that Herbie should have said something and that ESPN erred. Sorry Herbie!
