It's a running play an you are calling for a flag????? An it does matter the play an situation. Now if the running back went out as a wide out then turned an got hit, thats a flag, NOT a running play. I can't believe your crying for a flag on a running play.......
i was surprised someone didn't answer sooner. QB's are protected big time and "defenseless receivers".
Running backs can get blasted all day.

I love the bucknuts board. Clowney and Teo can't get any love.
If either were on OSU and played like they have, you'd have their jersey, a poster on the wall, and would be drooling thinking either the Bengals or Browns could get one of them.
Roger Goodell? Is that you?
The intent of the "helmet-to-helmet" penalty is to protect a DEFENSLESS player....i.e. QB after/during his throwing motion or during a slide....and a WR hung out to dry by his QB....a punt/kick returner, etc.
Although the scUM RB was a sitting duck, he was not, by definition, a defenseless player.
But that was one of the single hardest hits I'v ever seen.
Clowney is the most dominant player in CFB....anyone who thinks otherwise doesn't have a clue. It isn't always just about "numbers..."
He would be the #1 pick in this years draft if he were allowed to come out. I can see teams mailing it in earlynext year to earn the right to draft this guy.
