If you consider that ND is most likely going to play there, TOSU would actually have a good shot if not for sanctions.
Given the sanctions, scholarship reductions, and depth issues left for Meyer, I will consider an undefeated season more impressive than what happened in 2002. I'm not arguing talent, but where we should have been. The truth is this team would have a very good shot to win a NC this year with how things have unfolded if not for the sanctions.
If we go undefeated, I hope we celebrate this team like the 2002 team because what they're doing is even more impressive. I know a lot of people are hard on this team, but we have witnessed something unique and special, even in a tradition as storied as TOSU.

Cleveland Orchestra Baby!! World's greatest!! The Brown's wet dream is to be them. The Ohio State University-Where the Illibuck Lives!
Ohio State is ranked in the top 5 in the AP. We might not have to "give" credit. We might actually win the AP Title for real.
Never going to happen.
he wouldn't let his players pose in the Playboy All-American magazine edition, he said, "Cause you can't play football with an erection."
If we beat scUM, and Notre Dame loses in the NC game or before hand (either scenario is very likely), I will call this a national championship season as we were the only team in the nation that found a way to win every game. I don't give a shit what a bunch of whiny "But you werent eligible for postseason play" spewing AP voters say. We're a blue blood program who went undefeated. If we win out, we'll be the ONLY blue blood team (only team in the nation regardless of status for that matter) to win every game. I'll wax logic and argue every day of the week that losing a game proves with one hundred percent finality that you aren't the best team in the nation because another team was better than you. Bama lost to Texas A&M. That means since there's a team better than them, so they aren't the best team in the nation. Georgia lost to South Carolina. That means there's a team better than them, so they can't be the best and so on and so forth. If tOSU hasn't lost a game, there is no evidence to suggest that they aren't the best team in the nation because no other team proved they were better. Weak as hell argument? You betcha. Fun tool to piss people off? Oh absolutely.
No... going UN defeated in the reg season in not a nc... remember our team that lost to Florida?
In 07 we lost to Florida, therefore proving we weren't the best team in the nation. However, if we beat scUM next week, there's no conclusive evidence to prove we're not the best team in the nation this year. See how fun twisting logic can be?
OK, if the AP actually voted us #1 do you think Ohio State should keep the trophy or send it back with a note saying that were on sanctions so "no thanks"?
If/ when we go 12-0, I have no problem with arguing we were as good as any out there. The 2002 group did go 14-0, so my Big Ten education tells me we are a tad short, but frankly, after last year, I couldn't care less. And then the day after raising a glass with friends and family, I'll look forward to the basketball season, hearing my doctor say I'm another year cancer free, and having my children home for the holidays.

Lord...I thought we put this to bed already...do you believe in unicorns, too?
Not even close...do you remember the opponent Miami? At the time, being spoken of as perhaps the best all time? We were huge underdogs, huge!!! This team has not beaten a team like that, not even close.....I love this team, but the BIG is too weak, so not even a close comparison.
No, but I can look at a poll and see that Ohio State still has a decent chance at winning the AP Title.
I don't know exactly how I'll feel, however I can tell you that I will give this team credit for being undefeated.
Heck bama claims national titles from 3 loss seasons back in the 30's. Some of which happened 20 years after the season finished. How else do you think those inbreds claim like 12 titles.
