Just curious. I think we all know he is a damn good coach and Arkansas' performance this year only proves that more.
Between his interesting way he has left jobs and his fondness of volleyball players he has some baggage but is it worth it for a school with an opening right now.
(And yes this is because his name will surely be mentioned at Cincinnati if(when) jones leaves)
Yes, he should be hired. He frequently leaves jobs for other high paying jobs (who wouldn't?) and even though he cheats on his wife it isn't like he is breaking any Laws. I would like to see him land in the B1G at Wisconsin.
After seeing coaches preach about family, trust, togetherness and team and leave it would be fine to have a coach come in and most likely be successful at the most unstable time in college football.
Just keep him from the volleyball team and double check all admin hires.
Let me put it this way...I hope he is not hired at Wisconsin.
National President of the Sky is NOT Falling Club
Bobby Petrino can still preach winning. Yes, it may be hard for him to preach fanily and trust, but that is something that will come in time.
It may be hard to preach family in a living room to a kids family, but I don't think that the kids give a damn.
I dont think its a big deal in the grand scheme of things and he is a good coach. It's such a common thing (unfortunately) that not many are going to think that leads to him being a bad guy.
I'm with you there. I don't see Alvarez as the type to hire him though. I certainly would give him another chance. The guy is a winner. As an AD it your job is to get a winner. It isn't to hire a Saint.
Sure, fine, whatever. But I would never want him as our head coach. Don't want or need the baggage.
I'd hire him... Hell, our president did the same thing and our economy was booming! It's sad that it's so common but I'm sure he isn't the first head ball coach to do it. He's just the first to get publicly exposed and caught in a web of lies. Infidelity is what got Steve McNair killed. This guy can coach no doubt. My only issue is being able to trust him. I don't think he is very sincere and he lies too damn much. Other than that, he can get you to 10 wins. He'd have Wisconsin sitting good... He would go out and recruit more speed and have them battling us for the division every year like Wisconsin is supposed to.
If anybody would hire him it would be Alvarez who got caught cheating on his wife years ago with a coed at Wisky...it would be flat out ironic!

It depends. If I am AD at some backwater school that has never won like New Mexico St or similar yes. Anything to get put on the map. If it is a respectable school hell no
"Ohhhh, man I wish I could go back in time. I'd take state."
Why not hire him? Rick Pitino was under a similiar controversy and it hasn't stopped him or brung too much negative controversy after the incident.
Plus, the man wins.
It all depends on which program. There are certain programs that absolutely should stay clear of a guy like that and there are other programs that need to gamble a little. Point being, I don't think first tier programs need to settle on someone with that kind of baggage. However, there are only a dozen or so program out there that I consider first tier. The other hundred or so programs around the country should go after this guy because he clearly knows how to win. Might as well ride that pony till it bucks you.
And I agree on the UC thing. I think that would be a good get for them. In fact, I would consider it an upgrade if they can convince him to come.

"Tonight, my butt's sore." - Mike Krzyzewski 11-29-11
Winning trumps character, every time. Nobody has ever doubted that he's a snake-oil prick, even before his Evil Knieval stunt, and yet he went up, up, up. Another year, he'll be at a BCS level school that's losing.
I would not have a problem with him at Wisconsin. They need a rock-star coach, as do all the B1G schools. Wisconsin currently has several of these types to choose from. They can either plod along as if it were still the fifties, or pony up and get a difference-maker. B1G schools envy OSU their success, but they don't emulate them. What's a couple of extra million a year when a hot-shot coach has a team bringing in 10 times the cost of hiring him? They would be wise to throw the check book at a guy like Peterson or Petrino. This is your opportunity to become relevant, Wisconsin, don't blow it.
