Ncanhyfte, good post, but why didn't you offer to buy the ring from Ross to help him out?
I was a big Eric Haw guy.
On the flip side, I wasn't a big Troy Smith guy when he was a freshman...certainly not to the point that I thought he would be what he was in the end.
National President of the Sky is NOT Falling Club
Donnie Nickie: from a signing day available slot to 4 year letterman, and into the NFL
I'm not going to name names, but I know one of the reasons some of the fellas listed or thought of didn't pan out is simply steroid use. In high school you can get away with more than at the college level. The injuries that come with steroid use for some guys can also be an issue. I know a couple of fellas spoken of or that come to mind are confirmed juicers. That is one reason talent is hard to judge sometimes. It is sad and ugly....but true.
Great story, I recall Lydell being very big fast and talented hejust seemed to get hurt easily and seemed to have bad vision. He should have been better but oh we'll.
Mo C would have been a nightmare (in a good way) his jr year.
nvanhyfte - What is Lydell up to these days?
I thought Keith Wells was going to be a guy that would be great here. He never played a down!! Guys like him are way bigger misses than guys who played but maybe just didn't live up to the hype. I don't like to rag on the guys who he did their time, played, and got their degree. To me that is not a huge failure. Guys who arrived with a ton of hype and potential and never did squat on or off the field are the real misses. IMO james Scott is another guy that comes to mind in "recent" history.
Jason Ott, the next Big Kat!
Rob Murphy.....flunked out. Could have been AA.
I always thought Freddie Lenix would be big out of Glenville.... nope, I don't even remember if he ever enrolled
This list has all the usual suspects I can think of. Let me drop a hoopster name on you from my hometown. Greg Simpson. Kid had serious skills, wish it could have worked out different for him.
Credit Google Images, from which I steal all my pics.
Terry Pogue, only because he was a classmate of mines. Couldve been a solid linebacker or rush end. Had speed and power.
Smash through to Victory
i was wondering the same thing. or at least let him pawn it, so he could buy it back from you when he could.
Irizarry comes to mind as a huge disappointment, but does anyone remember Ira Guilford(4 star safety) who was stealing laptops with him. He had some hype himself. Those two kids were high on the recruiting boards and I thought both were going to be huge buckeyes.
This list is identical to mine.
