I posted this in another tread, but without even considering a lot of who we got coming in, and who we have for next year already, I cannot remember when we have been this stacked, not just with size, but with speed. NOT to mention the stout group of hard ass hitting DB's we have, this below is def going to cause some problems for oposing O's for the next several years.

If howard can play up to potential and orhian johnson does as well then I suspect that our defense will be top 5 in the nation.
dude, you left out pittman !!!
Bryant, Barnett, Roby, Howard, and Johnson represent a lot of starting experience in the secondary.
If Howard and Bryant can come back from down season's they had last year, then that group will be fantastic too. Johnson is very good back up.
You forgot Perkins and Marcus!
I did forget a few, but you get the freaking idea! Seriously freaking stout D!
Yeah, Jamal Marcus as a Viper will be neat!
you got an upvote for using the word "neat" while describing a freshman linebacker's future position. i can respect that
It will be interesting to see our LB recruiting based on this DLine. If you have a dominating front, you definitely can go for more of a speed over size look at backer since they will be running free to the ball more often than not.
No doubt the personnel coming in are top-notch. Our D has hit peaks and valleys as far as personnel in the past, but with the way things are going us having more than a few standout players will become very common place.
In my estimation defense should be mean...nasty and live to destroy opposing offenses.
JACK TATUM WOULD EXPECT NOTHING LESS!!!
I'd take 02, 05, and even 07 ahead of this team.
And I shall rejoice in victory for another 365 days over That School Up North.
'07 the same d-that got schooled by Illinois and LSU? No thanks!

07 was the number # 1 defense in the country. Do u really think this d can do that? I'd take a d with lauranaitis, gholston, Jenkins, etc any day over this years D. Not a slight to this years team, but it's not exactly loaded with all Americans and first rd draft picks.
This ^^^^^ is a genius statement.
Hard argue with the production of the '02 team. The '05 defense was good too, but the strength there was mostly at LB. And while we still don't know because we haven't seen this defense yet, but I anticipate it being stronger then the '07 team. I didn't particularly regard it as a great defense. Good, but not great.
