Craft Leads OSU To B1G Title Game

    Aaron Craft scored 18 of his 20 points in the second half and also had nine assists and four steals as Ohio State edged Michigan State 61-58 in a Big Ten tournament semifinal.

  • Great game by the Buckeyes today. Craft showed why he is one of the premiere guards in the country, and why the Ohio State will go very deep into the NCAA tourney.

    I'm assuming they didn't mention Nix mugging Thompson right before the half, or an offensive foul on him for elbowing Thomas out of the way on a post-up - both no-calls. If anyone but Valentine was reffing the game wouldn't have been close.

    BTW, I thought hooking on a move to the basket was still illegal. Nix does it every time.

    MSU fouls on every play on defense and if the refs call half of them then Izzo and their fans go nuts. Last night against Iowa I felt bad for the Hawkeyes because their young kids didn't realize this and played normal basketball. Down the stretch it cost them the game. Matta and OSU know (just like the TV commentators said) that you can do what you want because the refs won't be calling any fouls. We're talking about three buffoons who had to watch Nix try to take Craft's head off for over three minutes before deciding it was flagrant.

    If we can get the Deshaun Thomas of the 1st half and the Craft of the 2nd half going at the same time in the tournament then i see a FF team for sure!

  • Perhaps the conference selections of player of year and defensive player of the year were a bit premature!! Me thinks #4 of the Buckeyes was both, particularly in big games. Go AC!

  • Another great game by the Buckeyes. Nix is the dirtiest player in B1G. The referee that MISSED his hatchet job on Sam Thompson before halftime should be suspended. Craft just steps up and does what it takes to win.
    Tomorrow will be a challenge. We have to play intense defense and not let their deliberate game lull us to sleep. It would be great to win this rubber game against the cheeseheads.

    Mich St lead by 8 in the 1st half at one point and i think OSU biggest lead was 7 for sure and maybe 8 at one point in the 2nd half!

  • The more i think about it. this team should make a run in the tournament because we are battle tested to the max! I don't know the exact # but we played so many top 10 top 25 opponents! If we can get Craft to play like he did in the 2nd half then we can play with anyone! We play amazing defense EVERY game and if our role players step up then i see no reason this team can't go all the way! Plus every championship team get's the ball to bounce their way and has those game's where it seem like lady luck is on their side so lets just pray lady luck is a Buckeye fan.

    The Buckeye defense has not allowed a Big Ten opponent to score more than 60 points in about a month(7 games), except for when Wisconsin scored 71 points to our 49 on February 17th in Madison? That was also the very last time we lost a game. Yes, no motivational speech necessary for Thad Matta and the Buckeyes. See you tomorrow Badgers.

  • Great play by the Buckeyes. Aaron Craft, Sam Thompson, Ross and Thomas's last shot propelled the Buckeyes on to victory. Surprisingly, Amir played a decent defensive game in the first five minutes of play. Buckeyes did a great job limiting MSU transition baskets.
    Derrick Nix should have had a flagrant 2 versus Craft and not the flagrant 1. He grabbed around Craft's neck with the horse collar foul and needed to be ejected. I get sick and tired of some of the referees in this conference (Valentine, Simpson, Sanzere and the whole slew of .hitty refs ) that allow MSU's WWE ultraphysical style of basketball play throughout the years. These .hitty refs are going to get a player hurt in the near future. Nix is a dirty player who could have inflicted major injury to Sam Thompson and Aaron Craft. He should have been ejected from the game.
    Great win by Ohio State.
