Curtis Grant

  • I was just wondering if anyone has heard how his offseason is going/ what the new regime thinks of him. I feel like he was mentioned on and off on the boards a few months ago, but it's been a while. I would like to see Grant get a shot at significant PT and I believe he almost chose Florida and Meyer when he was recruited...

  • The only thing I've read about him was that he was involved in the recruiting process for this most recent class. I'm sure we will learn more about him during Spring ball...

    Virgil Stallcup

  • I remeber reading that Meyer really likes him and it was looking like he was going to start at the Mike LB this year and they were going to slide Sabino outside to his natural position. Shazier is going to start on the other side.

I would agree with you. Sabino looked really good in the bowl game at OLB, and Shazier looked great out there as well. Klien seemed to be the weak link. Though i still believe he can play just probably not start. I am high on C. Grant and hope it works out for him this year. Also hoping to see my best friend's nephews ( D. Grant and D. Smith) get more PT this year.

I agree about that being a dynamite LB corps. It would be fun to see those 3 fly around out there!

  • I heard since Urban and crew came on the scene that he now has the potential to be an all-american. With the previous staff in place, he was regressing and was likely going to transfer to a lower level Div. 3 school.

I expect the kid to contribute in a major way the next 3 years. Probably at middle linebacker given his size?

  • We are going to see alot of 2011 commits starting this year or getting significant playing time.
Miller be running our offense, D. Smith be starting at WR w. Spencer getting a great amount of PT. Heuerman & Vannett @ TE both receiving alot of PT. on the OL I can only see Underwood getting any PT if he is even still here other than Bobek @ Center.
On Defense I wouldnt be suprised to see Bennett start w. Hayes & S. Miller getting alot of PT on the ends. @ LB Grant & Shazier will most likely both be starting. D. Grant will be starting or the #3 CB.
Also wouldnt be suprised to see Tanner @ Safety & Hale @ DT play alot more than what people expect.
I guarantee we will have 3 or 4 All Americans in this class. There is about 8 that have the potential. (B. Miller, D. Smith, M. Bennett, S. Miller, C. Grant, R. Shazier, D. Grant)
That 2011 class was loaded & this will most likely be the class that leads us to the National Championship in 2014. 2011 class will be Juniors & the 2010 class which will be Seniors in 2014 when we are elgible for a NC, has seen nobody really pan out other than Basil (K), Brown (WR), Bryant (DB), Hankins (DT), Hyde (HB), Norwell (T), Roby (CB). I hope to see guys from the 2010 class like Baldwin (DL/OL), Reed (WR), & Smith (HB) really pick it up soon. Reed was already a solid WR before he was injured. Baldwin will now see alot of reps at Offensive Tackle. Smith has the chance to turn things around this year.

I like the starting group of Sabino at OLB, Grant at MLB, and Shazier at the other OLB spot.

5 or 6 all americans from the 2011 class? I am floored at the expectations of us 'fans'. This isn't NCAA Football 2012 on Xbox.

Lower level D3? Highly doubt that... I hope he can get on the field and contribute though, this is a good year for him to get valuable reps.

Really where did u hear that, you know in Boarding house 3/4 of that stuff is made up right? Luke is his LB coach, so won't he be still regressing if he still has the same position coach. Wow !! Some bashing on the old staff is cool, but this is outlandish, looking for reason to bash is not cool at all. After you saw why Sabino wasn't. Starting all these years you still blaming the old staff on that? How many LBs do we have in the NFL playing??

Didn't u get the Memo, that the previous staff recruit bumms & slow players with no talent? Don't you believe everything you hear in boarding house? Sarcasm!!

Yeah wth? Do you know what an All-American is? Seriously lmfao @ thinking we will have 5-6 from 1 recruiting class.

LMFAO @ thinking the 2011 class will have '5 or 6 all-americans'. It really bothers me if fans are that deluisional.
