Diets...what are you guys eating that are low cals

  • Breakfast....I eat two egg whites (50 cals) and 2 pieces of Turkey Bacon (50 cals)
    Lunch.....Top Chef Steamer (240-320 cals)
Dinner.....Top Chef Stamer (240-320 cals) or Subway Footlong (550-630 cals)

Snacks.....3 50-100 cal items of whatever I choose. 1 after Breakfast Maybe applesuace or fruitcup, 1 after lunch....small pack of cheezits.......After dinner applesauce or fruitcup (always the low cal kind)

Does anyone else count cals and what are you eating that's tasty, this stuff is getting old. I'm not fat, just want to get back to being ripped (5"10 185 32 inch or less waist). Im currently about about 208 but my waist is 35. I run twice a day (2 miles) and do other workouts (aerobics) when I get home Help a brother out!!!

  • Do you do any strength training? If not, I would hit the weights at least 3 days a week. The more muscle, the more cal you'll burn.

Me and thw wife are doing weight watchers right now. Honestly, the weight watchers TV dinners are really good and they are low cal, low fat, low carb.

Instead of Hamburger meat, use lean turkey meat. If you season it up right, a turkey burger is just as good as a hamburger IMO.

Also, if you love bread like i do, wheat bread is the key.

You need to eat 6 meals a day each meal should be 2-3 hours apart. You need to eat more protein from egg whites, skinless chicken breasts, fish, lean ground turkey, and protein shakes. You should stay away from simple carbs aka sugars. Also, get away from subway. You are eating processed meat (fake meat) and having 100 grams of carbs from the bread. If you are eating white bread stop because when your body digests it, it turns to sugar. If you want to snack, have natural peanut butter and rice cakes or sugar free jello. Also, hit the weights at least 3 times a week as one of the posters said on here. Brown rice, yams, oatmeal, and Eziekal bread are good carbs to eat. Make sure you eat lots of green veggies.

  • Chicken breasts are healthy and easy to make. If you add some lettuce and some olive oil and balsamic for dressing its great.
The best way to lose weight is to cut out bread but at the very least make the switch to whole wheat or better yet gluten-free whole wheat (Udis).
Fat free Greek yogurts make great snacks- Chobani and Face are both great. Add pumpkin seeds or flax seeds if you have.
Fresh deli meats like sliced turkey, roast beef, chicken breast. NOT pastrami and most of the italian meats.
Egg Whites or at least take out 2 of the 3 yokes.
    Skim Milk
    Brown rice
Advocado and nuts(if your not allergic like me) are healthy fats.
    Protein shakes

I know where your coming from. Played basketball in high school at about 6'2 190 and blew up to about 215 by the end of freshman year. 4 months later I was down to 175 after going gluten free, trying to eat healthy, and working out everyday. On a semi side note I highly recommend Gluten-free--It wont necessarily help you cut weight but it is great for you in a lot of ways.

  • check out Rene Tosca eat clean diet for men ...

IMO - no need to count cals when your eating clean and working out.

as with anything - keep it simple.

  • I have been cutting weight recently, but still love pizza. I recommend using tortilla wraps to make small pizzas (or any type of wraps for that matter). I buy these ones called Flatouts. I get the light variety and one wrap has 90 cal, 9g of protein, 9g of fiber, and only 16 carbs. I put some sauce on and low fat mozzarella cheese and it is not bad. Obviously not as good as the real thing but still. One of those with a salad is not a bad dinner or lunch.

No offense, but about 10% of your entire post was correct.

Meal timing is completely irrelevant in regards to body composition. You are not stoking some "metabolic fire" that people used to preach. Whether you eat 2 meals a day or 50 meals a day, if the macro nutrients are equal you will get identical results.

There is also nothing wrong with eating simple sugars in moderation, and nothing wrong with white bread. It doesn't magically make you gain any more weight than it's wheat counterpart.

You're passing along fitness myths that have been debunked long ago and this is part of the reason why people don't reach their weight loss goals. It's because people think they either have to absolutely hate their life with eating bland food they don't enjoy, or just stay the way they are.

  • I appreciate the responses and I'm definitely going to take positive things away from them. I do eat whole grain wheat when I eat bread but I guess that it's better to stay off that if I can. Definitely going to cut the 100 cal snacks and just stick to fruit. About to go run, thanks! Oh, and also I'm going to start lifting again, I'm comfortable with my mass so I'll do less weight more reps for the burn.

  • I've lost 18 lbs down to 185 lbs (6'1") since new years just using a calorie counter (myfitnesspal) on my iphone and following a few simple guidelines.

I upped the amount of times per day that i eat from 2 to 4 to keep my metabolism rolling.

I make sure i never miss breakfast as it kick starts your metabolism for the day.

I eat a ton of seafood, shrimp, perch, scallops, its super low in calories (though high in sodium) and try to supplement it with veggies.

I started doing cardio 3-4 times to compliment my weight training. I play competitive tournament volleyball on weekends in the winter and do a little jogging during the week.

Now that i've met my goal weight, i'm sticking to around 1800-2000 calories a day during the week and eating whatever i feel like on the weekends. Keeps me from going crazy.

I'm not saying this is the best way to lose weight, but it worked for me.

Actually wheat is a terrible idea. In fact if you are trying to lose weight, any bread our carbs not in the form of vegetables is extremely slowing down your goal. To amp up the fat burning, eat the vagrant diet and try high intensity workouts instead of long distance running.

None taken..... These are not myths at all. I have competed in over a dozen bodybuilding shows and trained with many different bodybuilders from amateur to pro's. I have never heard that white bread is good for you. I said stay away form simple carbs not get rid of them all together. I could have gone even further indepth, but then i would have to charge for my services. The good thing is that eveyone is different, so what works for you may not work for me. The reason people do not reach their goals are becasue they are weak and lazy.
