JUCO's are a tough thing because you are pretty much forced to use them or they are a wasted scholly day one.

I think it would be healthy to get ONE juco tackle. Even if we get Jordan and Kyle, I don't want them to start as true freshman at OSU.

  • Bill,

You had mentioned something about us going after the 2 tackles, possibly 1 or 2 lbs, and 1 safety. but also considering a guard, and 2 wrs/athletes.

Because it appears that both O lineman will wait until National Signing Day or later... is it likely that we sign Neal or Caleb before either Dodson or Diamond?

My fear is that we won't have enough spots, but you said Meyer could find a way to sign the players if he wants. Does that mean you could see him making room for 1 or 2 additional spots even with our sanctions this year?

  • Check the Auburn Roster out:

    http://auburn.rivals.com/croster.asp

They have 20 OLers now, with 15 on schlorship and 5 walkons.
Of the 15 schollies, only 4 are seniors that are leaving. But they already have commitment from 3 OLs this year.

Breaking down the scholarships, their roster lists 3 OTs, 2 OGs, 2 C, and 2 OL, where as you notice our roster lists most of our players as just OL because we dont know.

They always have recruited OL well, 3 or 4 every year.
    They are still very young.
But after looking at their Depth Chart, it looks like they are in the exact same situation we are.
They have recruited all these Tackles and turned them into Guards.

They have Westerman Slade and Sullen playing Guard.

When Dodson referred to only ONE OT on Schlorship, he was referring to Robinson,
the same way we refer to Norwell.

  • Nothing to support my gut feeling but it is that Diamond will be a Buckeye but perhaps not the case with Dodson. I am far from an expert in evaluation but I just wasn't that in awe of Dodson and the fact that he is so concerned with his chances to play right away concern me a bit. He appeared to me to definitely need a red shirt year prior to playing in the B10. On the other hand I hope and think that we will offer O'Conner when he visits and shortly thereafter he commits. Diamond and O'Conner as Buckeyes but of course given our needs I am sure we will fit Dodson in too if he should decide to be a Buckeye.

  • Dodson should visit Auburn in July and see if he still loves the weather.

  • I think Auburn meant they only have one OT returning, not the total when factoring in players coming in. Lets be careful with how we portray the SEC after recent scandals in the B1G has made the SEC's antics look like child's play.

That's actually a great point. So many kids don't get serious until after the season Jr or Sr year, so the South clearly has an advantage. This time of year, I would imagine the climate in the WHAC is every bit as comfortable as the Athletic Centers anywhere around the country. But in August, when teams are in the sweltering heat of training camps getting ready for the season, recruits are doing the same back home. It would be nice to get them down South for some two-a-days in 100+ heat and 90+% humidity.

Also, the southern climate does not get you prepared for NFL climates. There are not a lot of NFL teams that are located in the south and a lot of those teams have indoor stadiums. The cold is much more of an issue.

There are a lot of teams in the winter you have to prepare for playing in the cold. Cleveland, Baltimore, Pittsburgh, Philly, Cincinnati, Buffalo, New York, Washington, Tennessee, San Francisco/Oakland (contrary to popular perception, it gets cold), Denver, Chicago, Green Bay...etc, etc.

Funny. Everyone bags on Bollman and drools over having SEC coaches.

Did I just ready that correctly? Auburn has only ONE offensive tackle returning on scholarship.

Well that is what they told Dodson, not the telling the truth is a given within the SEC
All schools have weaknesses, not just OSU

Auburn has two juco tackles signed in this class so someone better tell Dodson he's being lied too. Why do bucks not go after juco players?

    Academics would be my guess

  • Apparently 6'6 300lb kids who can pancake are in incredibly high demand these days!

I think after the group comes in for officials on Jan 13th it's gonna light a fire under some of these kids holding out until NLOID. What do we have...~4 more schollies? I know the thought is we take D&D no matter what, but if O'Connor and others commit, it might just give them a higher sense of urgency.

Bummer, nothing on the wisky coaching change?????????

He probably doesnt know about it. How could anyone who is even thinking of going to OSU not know about those recuits? He is either sandbagging that answer or not to bright.

Even if the kid may not have a computer, I am sure his friends do, or his friends are telling him about these other recruits.
The coaches have been calling him and of course been keeping him abreast of updates and how hot the program is.
    Pure sandbag job.

I lived in Hot AtLanta for 2 years, I hope a big man his size can endure that heat.

Grandma talks him into staying close to home.

Dont be totally surprised to see him commit Jan 7 at Army All American Bowl.
And blow off his trip to USC unless he just wants alittle Southern California Vacation.

I thought about the Juco thing as well. It is rare, the last being Larry Grant.

"If Dodson knows how to use the internet ..."

I lol'd.. and then thought about it some more, and pondered Chris Carter & google and whether someone in this day and age can truly not know how to use the internet.

Look at Auburn's roster. Either they have a helluva lot of non-scholarship OTs or they are lying. I strongly lean toward their lying. Do your homework, Kyle. Auburn also picked up at least one OT out the JUCO ranks for 2012.

Lying!!!?? There's no lying at Auburn!!
