Does anyone still think...

...that we can't beat LSU, South Carolina and Georgia? Or even Florida and Bama? This board had been littered with Big Ten bashing and a ton of OSU fans who questioned how good we are. It made me laugh then and it makes me laugh now. The Big Ten always has been and always will be big boy football. We didn't lose one game and the Big Ten has shown it its capable of playing with the "so called" superior teams. In addition, now that the SEC has at least some schollie guidelines to follow, everyone will see exactly why they were so much better than every other conference. It is very simple, oversigning means extra good players and better teams.

PS-I can't say I'm too sad to see That Team Up North haha.

I could care less about anyone but us...

I think we can play with anyone.

  • The sec dominance is exaggerated . Yes, they seem to have a top heavy league with one or two super teams yearly contending for titles, but the depth simply is not there. The teams play very weak non conf schedules to pad records and stats. Then, they dont typically play many of the other heavyweights in conference. Ga did not play any of the three good teams from the west (ala, lsu, or tam). They went 1-1 against the 2 good teams from the east, yet were on the brink of the title game. They eventually played ala in their title game, but ala hadn't played fla or ga during the season either. The mississippi, vandy, kentucky, arkansas, auburn types are not any tougher than northwestern, wisc, penn st types that we play every week in the big ten.
Don't worry, the tide is turning (no pun intended). OSU is on the brink of another great run. The rest of the league will upgrade with the pressure that osu is applying.

I agree with the part about the SEC lacking depth....but the B10 is extremely weak at the bottom too. The B12 has by far the best middle to bottom tier teams.

We are 1-9 against the SEC in bowls . That isn't dominant??? Thats if you count the Ark win. Until we beat there best when it counts consistently, why don't we just shut up & prepare! Urban will get us there, but we aint there yet. If OSU played in the SEC this year , we'd have easily lost 2-3 games. Love my Bucks but get real guys.

You have to be kidding me, 10 games spread out over 40 years. Nobody talks about how we are 7-3 all time in regular season games vs the SEC. But again those are spread out over several decades so that does not mean a lot either. NW is 3-0 there last three games vs the sec does that make them a dominant program. Give me a break

  • I grant that the SEC has not looked dominant this bowl season. But here's why I don't think OSU would fare as well, because Braxton has not proven that he can beat you with his arm. Clemson and Louisville have QBs that can consistently throw the rock. Bridgewater is a freakin surgeon out there. I just don't feel our passing game is consistent enough to beat those teams.

Could we be them? Of course we could, but to say that because LSU and Florida did not show well equates to OSU beating those teams THIS YEAR is not necessarily good logic.

As with everyone else. I am eagerly anticipating the future with a mature and fully coached up Braxton Miller. I definitely think we are poised to do big things.

IF I were an SEC fan, I might respond to this OP comments by asking a very simple question. What is OSU's record against SEC teams?

Game, set, match. Speculation and wishing doesn't matter. What matters is what happens on the field and we haven't done squat on the field against SEC teams.

Start beating them on the field, then you have some gravitas. Until then, it sounds like a whiny beeatch. We would have lost 2-3 games this year if we played in the SEC. That gap is closing but be realistic.

Just a thought, if we are going to quote a 1-9 record in bowls all the time in which this covers 4 decades, then why don't we quote our regular season record against the SEC which is 6-2-1. And would have been 7-2-1 but vandy decided getting beat by NW 2 consecutive years was as much BIG beating as they could take.

  • I would simply say that the last time we played a highly ranked SEC team, we beat them.

You crazy guys think we aren't better than Louisville? Get a clue fellas. Think with your minds, not some ESPN sound bite. tOSU could beat anyone in the SEC this year.
