And one more thing ...
OSU fans and central Ohioans had Sullinger to buy into the last 2 years. When there is a Columbus kid doing well it makes a big difference in the support of the team.
They have Craft and he is an Ohio kid a lot of fans can identify with.
The rest of the team??
Ravenel from Florida by way of BC
Thompson and Smith from Illinois (keep that ET pipeline flowing with Bates-Diop and others ... Okafor?)
Thomas is from Fort Wayne
Scott is from Georgia
Ross is from Mississippi
Williams and McDonald are from Michigan
Della Valle is from Italy by way of Vegas prep school
This is indicative of the lack of Ohio blue chippers since that Sully-Craft-Sibert-Spoon class. I've been following OSU bkb for 37 years and can't remember a roster that had so few Ohio guys.
That 92 team? Bake was from Dayton, Jackson from Toledo, Robinson from Canton, Funderburke from Columbus, Davis from Cincinnati, Skelton from Dayton and so on.
99? Redd and Reese from Columbus, Coleman from Toledo
07? Lewis from Columbus, Harris from Springfield, J-But from Lima
04-05? Sully from Columbus, Stockman from Medina, Dials from Youngstown, Sylvester from Cincy, Twig from Dayton and J-But from Lima
I think subconsciously some OSU fans don't see the Ohio influence with this team and that makes it harder to identify with them maybe for some.
But they are wearing the Scarlet and Gray ...
