Dream Team vs. '12 Team USA? Thoughts

  • Im saying the size up front and the physicality of guys like Barkley give the Dreamers a comfortable win. Jordans D would handle Lebron and I dont think anybody else would make up the difference. I believe the Dream Team is probably the best team assembled in any team sport.

Guys like Durant And Westbrook wouldn't be able to be accounted for. I would also find it interesting how the 92 team would do with love pulling a guy like Ewing to the three point line.

Love at center to go along with Westbrook, Kobe, LeBron and Durant would be a line up that would cause a horrible match up for the 92 team. The 2008 team would have beaten the 92 dream team though.

  • I think people are forgetting just how good the DT worked as a unit. The newbies would have literally NO center to stop Ewing. Its be an awesome game.

That same matchup problem would also be a matchup problem for the '12 team. How would they guard a frontcourt that includes 2-3 of Ewing, Robinson, Malone, Barkley, Bird, and Laettner. Laettner is pretty comparable to Love anyways. I just watched the '12 team scrimmage today and it wasn't like Love was raining threes. Love isn't even a starter. The Dream Team wouldn't have a problem with westbrook either, they would be smart enough to make him shoot outside.

  • IMO, the dream team wins with the current 2012 roster. If you add Blake Griffen and Dwight Howard, I would go with the 2012 team. Now I am younger so their may be a bias here, but nba basketball was my first passion as a kid, even before OSU football, and I think I have a solid grasp on the 1992 dream team.

I think the length of LeBron, Durant, Kobe and Melo would cause matchup problems for Jordan, Barkley, Bird and Magic.
Even with Dwight and Griffen, the 92 team would have a big advantage over the 2012, but the drop off wouldnt be as severe as it is now with Tyson Chandler.

At PG, Im going with 2012 team. I always thought Isaih Thomas was overrated and I like the 3 PGs we have now.

  • The comparison is laughable. The postmen are Barkley, Ewing, and Robinson. I mean that's a wrap right there. Westbrook is going to get to the rim regularly against that group? Then you have 2 of the best PG to ever lace them up with Stcokton and Magic. Magic on the backside of his career was still a baller. I haven't even gotten to Jordan. Really this is a discussion? Cocaine is a helluva drug!

The 2012 team at point would Sandusky the hell out of 92. paul, deron Williams and Westbrook are collecting better.

People talk about guarding the the 92 team, who is going to stop the 08 team. Lebron would dominate no matter who was on him. Durant would shoot over ANYONE and don't forget about Melo who surprisingly has a better international game then nba game. It would NOT be a blow out.

The 2008 team would win IMO.

Now I know you are just a pot mixer. You can't honestly believe what you typed unless you actually never saw the '92 team play. I grew up watching those guys. Most of them were on the '84 gold winning team. The current team has no answer for their post play. They would dominate them by getting the ball into the post and drawing fouls. The DT is also a superior defensive team. Durant or Lebron may get their points but both wouldn't. The DT was also a MUCH better perimeter shooting team.

Honestly, there isn't a piece of the game that the DT wasn't better. They would win a 7 game series 4-0 or 5-1 if they got bored. And the games wouldn't EVEN be close.

  • It wouldn't be the blow out you are saying it would be. The 92 team has the best player on the floor in Jordan, but the 12 team has the next three best players in Lebron, Kobe and Durant. I am just saying it would be much closer than you think. The 92 team had more quality depth, but the 12 team has a better starting 5.

  • Talk about speed, try to cover Barkley, Malone, and the Admiral runnin down court. Jordan and Pippen were both lock down defenders. Everyone is forgetting how deadly a shooter Chris Mullin was too.

2012 is athletic and talented, but the Dream Team was unreal.

And by the way, Thomas wasn't on the team and if you want Paul and Westbrook at point, I'll take Magic and Stockton every day against you.

You need to remember, if Paul/Westbrook/LeBron gets by their defender goin to the hoop, Malone/ Barkley/ Robinson/ Ewing would lay their ass out. No easy buckets against these guys!

How old are you? my bet is that you are under 30 so you really never watched these guys dominate without even trying. 92 averaged what a 44 point victory margin? They could have averaged 65 if they wanted to and were playing 100%, Not to mention the 92 team had to take a college player on its roster. That team will be unmatched in talent while any of us are alive.

you probably think that adrian peterson or chris johnson is a better running back than Jim Brown too....Just because its new and fresh doesn't make it better.

Let's also think about you having the talibron of 08 not 2012. he would have withered up in a ball sitting still and alone in the corner in 08 if he had to play the bad asses of 92.
