  • Welp, looks like he's going to Missouri.

    I can't think of the last time, if ever, we got a kid from OOS who parents are both alums to our main comp.

    Heuerman's parents went to Michigan and he had UofM offers, dad played there.
    The Boren's parents both played sports at UofM, just two right off the top of my head.
    We'll see how much he likes Missouri when they get trampled in the SEC this year.

  • Good point, Alpha, but Dad seems very interested, though. It's funny how kids change how you think about things. Probably wants his kid to have the best chance to make it big and knows that's with Meyer at tOSU.

    Well I knew of the Borens but I think a asterisk is there because they pretty much fell out with the school after Carr left.

    Had no idea about Heuerman.

    One key difference though is from the examples you mentioned, those guys didn't live in the same state. It would be like If Heuerman lived in Michigan, with both parents as alums and still went to OSU. That's the difference with Elliot. He will have to turn away both parents being alums, leaving the home state, the fan pressure, and the opportunity of playing SEC ball.

    Where they live now, will make a big difference if they both graduated and left the state.

    Just from following recruiting so long you notice trends.

    Many guys go to the same school their parents were alum at (regardless of sports even many bucknutters have the love for OSU because of family.. My mother went to OSU so I always assumed I would too).

    Recruiting is local. Most talent stay local. Most not all.

    Those are hard things to overcome but we shall see

    You're being too pessimistic, Alpha.

    Look what dad told Ezekiel about Urban Meyer and tOSU -- their car chat and dad's positive impressions of staff motivation, etc. On short notice the whole family drives to Ohio because dad considers an invitation from UFM a recruiting must.

    There's tons of good news in this report and UFM just started recruiting Ezekiel three days ago!

    When in doubt, punt.

    Not both parents, but Doran Grant's dad went to SCum St so it has been done before. I think Gonzo's and TJ Downing's Dad were pro SCUm as well.

    Urb has definitely caught his parents attention.

    Yep, Walt Downing played for Michigan and had and TJ had a UofM offer, you saw how that turned out. Good find, I remember hearin that during one UofM vs. OSU game about Downing, and how it was odd to see him at OSU when his dad played for UofM.
    Happens more than most think.
    Love Elliott's film, if he ends up at OSU, I am good with that.

    They already lived in Ohio (thus the opportunity to be buckeye influenced). I'm talking about a situation where both parents are alums and they reside in the same state of that institution that we competing against.

    I can't think of a time where we pulled that out.

  • I agree with most of the posts in that he took the visit - his & parents' expectations were exceeded and yet he still loves Mizzou too...most important thing is Urban Meyer is on the case...should be interesting !
    Sounds like he will get offers from everybody over the next few months....but at least the Buckeyes are in on him early in the decision process !
