Tatum, Tatum, Tatum, Tatum and Tatum, in that order.
'We are attacking that like animals right now.'
Good days, bad days --- always a Buckeye. Time to begin the assault on the 2013 BCS National Championship
I'm going to go well off the reservation here, but the most jaw-dropping hit I ever saw by a Buckeye player was actually an OSU woman's rugby player in a match against Ohio U. This woman came out of nowhere, was a red blur flying horizontally and absolutely decleated (depawed?) the Bobcat. Actually more like a Camaro t-boning a Datsun stationwagon. It was as if a smaller Tatum was without pads in a ponytail. But really more like a cheetah hitting a young gazelle or a Sidewinder slicing through a MiG 21. But, for day-to-day freakishness, who couldn't love Tatum's hit. It even resulted in Pro Football's most notable play, even if that wasn't his intent.

At the safety spot I would say Ohrian Johnson and a close second would be Anderson Russell.
"And the cat's in the kettle at the Peking Moon..."
I am old enough to have seen Tatum play in person, and I also saw the awesome hit by the big Kat. Tatum is the clear number 1 for me - it wasn't just some of the hardest hits you ever saw, it was the consistency of it. Nobody was more feared than Tatum. Opposing teams or individual players would occasionally challenge his portion of the field. And after the first time he hit them, the game plan changed. Just like the Missou QB with Big Kat, but many times over. He earned his nickname "The Assassin" long before he got to the pros.
"I like to believe that some of my hits border on felonious assault" ---- Jack Tatum. Pretty much says it all.
Matt Wilhelm had some big hits!
I didn't see a lot of Pete Johnson at OSU but would love to hear from those who did. I remember Jack Lambert of the Steelers getting macked by Pete catching a short pass over the middle as a Bengal.
I remember reading quotes from several opposing players about Korey Stringer along the lines of "having his way out there."
Marcus Marek deserves honorable mention.
William White could bring the wood.
Edit: typo fix

Neal Colzie and Malcom Jenkins could jack people up as DBs
The Big Kat may've been the heaviest hitter of them but I found it hard to put him above anybody in my top five....
