From someone that would know in the northwest, Oregon is

  • preparing to get served HARD from the NCAA for the Willy Lyles street agent nonsense. But get this, according to him that was just the tip of the ice burg and there is a wealth of other wrong doings that go back as many as three to four seasons ago. This source BTW is neutral not a fan or a hater of Oregon and he firmly believes their punishment will be significantly closer to U$C's punishment than ours or UNC. They are going to pull down their pants though hoping for a hand to the cheeks and not the paddle. The following is what this guy has pieced together and predictably not ALL of these will occur but if even half do that's a HUGE blow to a program that can't exactly pick themselves up by their boot straps and not miss a beat ala U$C and tOSU. We shall see....

    4 Years probation
    Multi-year Bowl Ban
20+ scholarships lost over 3 years
No out of state recruiting for a year
No in-home visits for Gary Campbell
    Wins from 2009-2011 stricken
    RB Trophy forfeited
Multiple players ruled ineligible(including Barner, DAT, Clay, Heimuli)
Basketball will be hit even harder from a source within the TyE, who is best friends with prominent Oregon boosters.
Chip demanded guaranteed money if there is a NCAA probation by given and TB said NO
Track and Field will be hit as well
Coordinated offering of sex & drugs/alcohol to recruits is currently being investigated by the EPD.
Register Guard has a story ready to print, as soon as they are close to levying charges

  • Wow. I don't relish the idea of them getting hammered after what we went through, but I think their stuff seem very blatant in disregarding the rules. So something needs to happen.

  • That's a negative spin, and one fans often have as a defense mechanism. We heard lots of the same crap here when Tress-Tat Gate was taking place. It was the tip of the iceberg, too. Remember cars would be the real problem. Wrong. Then it would be rogue boosters would be the real bomb. Wrong again.
NCAA has too much money tied up with Phil Knight and NIKE to lower any boom on them. They won't be hit hard if at all. Certainly not worse than OSU's penalty.
If Auburn can pay Cam Newton's dad $150K and it gets reported in the papers and NCAA does nothing to a national championship, if Kentucky can drop $150K in a brief case for Anthony Davis' handlers and zero is done deciding another national title, a wink and a whistle will end this one.

Same guy was waaaay ahead of the curve on the U$C sanctions so I wouldn't entirely dismiss it. Again, if even half of the proposed actually comes to fruition that is very, very bad news for the little duckies.

  • would laugh like heck, but no way half of this happens...and yahoo was way ahead of USC, they wrote the Bush article three years before the sanctions

More so this guy knew of the punishments that would be rendered well before it became official. Almost nailed it perfectly IIRC and the NCAA powers that be WERE in fact very close to a TV ban. Believe that!

I absolutely do. One of THE trashiest fan bases in America bar none. I have experienced piss bags first hand and heard horror stroies from others as well who made the trek to Eugene. Not to mention they are just about the biggest Johnny Come Latelys in big boy college football to puff their chest as they do is a joke. No Uncie Phil pumping Nike $= 2nd tier PAC 12 program at best.

Really unfortunate if true. Hate to see programs going through this. It ruins the sport. IMO individuals should be punished, not programs.

completely wrong.... when most the team and coaching staff know about it, its time for the program to take a hit. the HC is THE MAN, especially at schools like OSU, Bama, LSU, scum, etc.

I still hold out hope that the DoJ investigation into Cecil Newton turns up something.

  • I can believe thisis happening for two reasons....and neither are sour grapes. 1) they have had a very cohesive relationship with NIKE for too long and 2) they are in the PAC 10....

Let me know when the like of Alabame or AUburn, LSU or any other SEC school gets hammered the way other conferences do...i know that sounds like "Oh hell, here we go again" but damn i hate it when the SEC gets by with so much crap...

Sour grapes! Nike and The PAC 12 don't appear to have anything to do with Oregon cheating! At least come with better reasoning than this, smh..
