  • Lucky;(. I have lived in Jacksonville for almost 20 years total and the one time I was going to play with a friend that worked there he quit two days before we were supposed to go out.

I do like North Hampton a lot.

I'm sue there are some golfers out there so in here you can post whatever you like. How did you shoot, what did you buy, what do you want to buy, what clubs you have, offer tips, etc. hopefully we can get this thread moving!

Just got the new AP-2's from Titleist. They have a tighter dispersion rate than last years clubs. The new wedges are the best I have ever hit. When I get to back to C-bus I play the S&G course. Since I live in Denver its easy to fly down to Vegas and I do that quite a bit. It can be 15 degrees and 65 there so it pretty makes sense to get down there.

I also bought the new Calloway Razr X driver with the adjustments. I was never a fan of this technology but I think they have something here. I played yesterday as it was 71 degrees here. I hit some nice drives and some not so nice drives so the jury is still out on this one.

I am looking at the new Nome putters when they come out in a couple of weeks......Ping I tend to miss a little left of the hole sometimes and these have a way to fix that.....so I hear.

  • I am playing the best I ever have right now because I practice a lot more!!

I play a Nike Mach Speed driver that I have a little inconsistency with with an occasional pull hook in to trees on the left. Taylor Made Burner 2.0 3 wood, and 3/4 hybrids. My irons are old as dirt but I hit them great still, Taylor made super steels from early 2000's.

    Vokey wedges and ghost mallet

Shot a 73 last week @ my home course and that was with 3 3putts from within 15 feet all for birdie. Hell one of them was from 3 feet... Sad thing is, I was lights out the rest of the round with the flat stick.

Davebennett, really make sure that whoever he is working with is legit. I got my son into some lessons with a pro that was very knowledgable but just wasn't a very good teacher. So if you're not seeing results, cut it because it's too expensive for swing band-aids.

He has been taking lessons from his future highschool coach and he is getting better. The past few years he was taking lessons from former Buckeye great Mike McGee. He still to this date holds the least amount of putts record per 18 holes on the PGA tour. He had 18 putts in one round. Google it. He was on the national championship team with John Cooke and Joey Sindelar. I think a car accident ended his career.

I was just wondering if you (or anyone else) had any advice on hitting a draw with the driver. I can draw and fade with my irons and other woods, but for some reason I have never been able to with the driver.

I've always had a large slice swing with the driver, but I have been able to adjust it to a more of a gentle fade, but I have never been able to hit the draw.

Every time I try to hit a draw I turn my wrists over too fast and just hook it right off the tee.

I was just curious if you could help me develop the draw into my game off the tee. Thanks for any advice!

Try being a little more patient with the swing. The driver is the longest club so you really have to focus on turning your chest and waiting for the club to set naturally. If you want a draw you don't want to force it up and out to quickly. Try and feel a pause at the top of the swing and feel your upper body stop rotating; Once you get that pause feeling you can start the downswing by rotating your hips and holding your chest back until your momentum and the weight of the club carries it through. Usually that separation promotes a draw- I wouldn't be too concerned with your hands cause smaller muscles are harder to control in pressure situations and thats where you can get in trouble relying too much on timing.

As a side note, hitting a draw is overrated. If you can hit a consistent "gentle fade" that is the perfect shot to manage a golf course with.

It takes some real practice to really keep your head still. I remember watching a slo-mo video of Tiger swinging a driver and his head barely moved at all. It was insane when you try to keep it as still as he did... But he is the G.O.A.T.

  • PLSBUCK, isn't it a pain in the ass to change shafts when you have the 910 D2?

I highly reccomend these articles if you want to start hitting the ball better. It fixes my takeaway if it ever gets to the inside:

Imo, they definitely do! Nike makes really comfortable shoes that perform well too.

I've heard adidas were really comfortable too.

  • Maybe a couple of you guys who are local to Columbus should put together an outing for Bucknuts and friends? Be a pretty good time, and I bet you could raise some good money for the Children's hospital or some other charity. I don't have enough time to be the main organizer, and who the hell wants a troll in charge anyway, but I would sure be willing to help. I bet a lot of guys would.

Changing shafts is always a pain but if you do find the right one, you will be a much better player. I tend to play with very strong shafts that can be ordered when buying a new driver about every other or every third year.

steved23, I still use a 3 and 4 iron but playing with some of the local assistant pro's down here in Florida, they have all switched to the Hybirds. They hit them a mile and stop them on a green better than I do the 3 or 4 iron. I just ordered one and am going to give it a go.
